Mary Rachel Sheridan Price (81) passed away quietly surrounded by family and friends on July 15, 2015. She was born on November 24, 1933 in Houma, LA to John Wesley and Jesse Mae (Meyers) Sheridan. She grew up on their farm and in the wilds of southern Louisiana and told stories of watching the paddle-wheel steamships traveling up the waters of their homestead in Houma. Upon graduation from High School, she moved to Lake Charles, LA where she met and married the love of her life, Donald T. Price on February, 5, 1954. After a short stint in the Air Force, Don brought his young family home to Austin where he and Rachel built a life around their children, family and friends.
Rachel is survived by her brother, Floyd Sheridan and her children: Lane Price and his wife Glenda, Donna Moore and her husband Dwight, Kelly Price and his wife Robin, Misty Price; grandchildren, Desiree Price, Andrew Price and his wife Fang, Brandon Moore; one great-grandson, Michael Price. She was especially close to niece Nanci Presley-Holley and her husband Rik of Seattle, WA. She leaves behind close friends, LaVonne McManis, Lydia Serna, Janet Warren, Ann Reed, and Nancy Moore and a host of other friends and family.
Her life in Austin was one of serving others whether it was helping in schools, cooking for family and friends, or sewing for various projects including the Easter Pageant costumes of her home church, Christian Life. As her children grew and left the nest, she was able to travel frequently. From Caribbean cruises to Alaskan escapades, from Branson showcases to Smoky Mountain retreats, and from Hershey, PA to Niagara Falls, Rachel made new friends and loved traveling with old friends.
Funeral Services celebrating her home-going will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish on South Congress at 10:00 am Monday morning after visitation on Sunday at WCF from 2:00-5:00. The services will be conducted by Rex Johnson, Pastor of Christian Life Church.
Pallbearers will be friends and family members including Kelly Price, Dwight Moore, Brandon Moore, Darryl Fuselier, John Schoonmaker, and Steve Asbill.
Honorary pallbearers will be 1st Lt. Andrew Price, Rik Holley, Chris Sheridan, Geoff Sanders and Sam Armocido.
