Ralph Caballero, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025. Born on April 10, 1936, to Rafael and Maria Estella Caballero, Ralph grew up in a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values that stayed with him throughout his life.
On July 7, 1957, he married the love of his life, Marie Olguin. Together they built a beautiful life filled with devotion, laughter, and partnership that spanned 68 wonderful years.
Ralph proudly served seven and a half years in the Army National Guard, earning an honorable discharge as a Private First Class. After his service, he spent his career as a printer, running large presses with pride and precision until the age of 78—a true testament to his work ethic and dedication.
Ralph had an unforgettable sense of humor and never met a stranger. He loved good conversation, could make anyone laugh, and always left people smiling. He enjoyed old country music, cherished time spent with his family and was a loyal Texas Longhorns fan through and through.
A passionate golfer, Ralph spent many years working at Hancock Golf Course simply to be close to the game he loved most. In his younger years, he was an exceptional athlete, earning All-District honors in basketball at Austin High School. Known by his teammates as “The Monster,” his signature move—a left/right hook from the baseline—was one to remember.
Ralph will be remembered for his strong but kind spirit, his honesty, and his loyalty. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence filled every room with warmth and laughter.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie Caballero; his children, Sylvia Antle (Bart), Ralph Caballero III (Sylvia), and Deanna Wilson (Kevin); his sisters, Lupe Martinez, Alice Caballero and Millie Polanco; and his brother, Jerry Caballero, and sister Millie Polanco. Ralph was also blessed with four grandchildren—San Marie Dyer, Marisa Garnett, Joseph Quiroz, and Jackson Quiroz—and seven great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Maria Estella Caballero; his siblings, Maria Stella Caballero, Rudy Caballero, Albert Caballero, Edward Caballero, Josie Guy; and a sister who passed away at birth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Heart Association in Ralph’s honor.
