Floyd Ralph Rich passed peacefully to be with his Lord after a brief illness on July 3, 2009. He was born May 24, 1926 to John Mark and Libby Rich. A third generation Austinite, Ralph attended Austin High School and the University of Texas. He served in the Navy during World War II, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed traveling the world. Saved at an early age, he and his wife Pauline were charter members of Austin Baptist Church. Ralph was truly a self-made man who owned and operated Ralph's Groceries for over 25 years. His legacy has become part of East Austin history, and he made many friends along the way who appreciated his quick wit and taunting sense of humor. Always the life of the party, Ralph loved meeting people and making new friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Pauline Rich, and his two sons Tim Rich and Paul and wife Jeanne Rich; grandchildren Amanda Rich, Holly Parmentier, Spencer Rich, Kelsey Rich, Dana Burnich, five great-grandchildren (all of Austin) and many nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly. Viewing and visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. July 7, 2009 at Weed- Corley-Fish in Austin. Graveside service will be held Wednesday July 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to your favorite charity.
