Reita Inez Fietz, a longtime Kingsland resident, business owner and loving mother, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 12, 2003. She was 67. Born in Turkey, Texas, Reita graduated from Levelland High School before marrying and starting her family. Reita was a beautiful, generous person who was always able to greet everyone with a smile. She raised four very grateful children and was still as sweet as the sugar-free candy that found its usual place in her home. Reita Fietz moved to Kingsland in 1974 and was part-owner of River Oaks Lodge for six years. Later, she opened a very successful Merle Norman & More shop which is still thriving today. She loved her work and visiting with her friends when they would come into her shop. Reita used her business opportunity to bring some style to Kingsland by organizing well over 350 style shows. There were many other interests besides her family and work. Reita looked forward to swimming with her partners at her 5:00 am swim club, going to every kind of musicals, traveling to most of the states in the U.S., attending sororities and luncheon clubs, watching the Spurs beat the Lakers, and keeping up with her 10 busy grandchildren. She was a resident of Kingsland Cove for over 20 years before building her dream home on the Pack Saddle Golf Course. Now, she truly is home. Reita Fietzs funeral will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 15, 2003 at the 1st Baptist Church in Kingsland, with visitation at 12:00 Noon at the church. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Bailey and husband Keary, of Austin, and Rhonda Fietz, of Kingsland; her sons, Truett Fietz and wife Jill, of Wimberley, and Scott Fietz, of Austin, her two sisters Vicki Wilkerson and husband Preston of Portales, New Mexico, Shirley Clavel, and husband Dick, of Tempe, Arizona, brothers, Joe Parker, and his wife Ramona, of Clovis, New Mexico, and Dwight Parker, and his wife Laveta of McAlister, New Mexico, and 10 grandchildren, Dayna, Kandice, Parker, and Blair Bailey, Shaun and Shelby Fietz, and Chad, Eric, Cody, and Jordan Fietz. We will miss her sweet smile everyday.
