The eldest of three boys, Richard was fortunate to have experienced the world at a young age as part of his father’s US Air Force career. Richard’s favorite place was Austin, where he lived the Austin life starting with his freshman year in high school.
Richard graduated Crocket High School (Austin, TX), and went on to have two beautiful children and productive careers in the semi-conductor and telecommunications industries in Austin. He had a big heart for his children and was so very proud of the accomplishments in their lives. Especially in 2020 with his daughter’s graduation from the University of Colorado Boulder and the start of his sons freshman year at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
All who knew Richard knew he had a big heart for animals and loved the outdoors, be it jet skiing on Lake Travis or Lake Austin, or skydiving. Richard was also an avid UT Longhorn fan and rarely did a day pass without him wearing one of his Longhorn hats!
Richard is survived by his two children, Hayley Kinlaw (Boulder, CO) and Ian Kinlaw (Austin, TX); his parents Jeffrey and Marsha Kinlaw (Austin, TX); his two brothers, Michael Kinlaw (Rockford, MI) and Jonathan Kinlaw (Austin, TX); and his partner, Leslie Lewis (Austin, TX). He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, and by three nieces and a nephew.
Richard was a true Austinite and left us way too soon.
Due to COVID-19, the family is holding a small private celebration of Richard’s life with video streaming for those who want to join in celebrating his life. Please contact the family for video stream details.
