
Richard served in the US Army Air Corp in India during World War II. After the war, he married Cecile Kopecky on June 11, 1946 in Austin. She passed away on July 1, 2006. They were founding members of St. Louis Catholic Church.
Richard retired as the treasurer for McNair Appliance after more than 15 years of service. He was an avid Texas Longhorn fan and supporter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 1 sister, 2 half-sisters and a half -brother.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Rooks of Austin; his sister, Willie Jackson of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 17th of April 2011, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at half past ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 18th of April 2011, at St. Louis Catholic Church. 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas with Rev. Larry Covington as celebrant. The interment with Military Honors from the US Army will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and the usual remembrances, the family requests that memorials be given to St. Louis Catholic Church, Building Fund, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas 78757 or your favorite charity.
