

Richard Dixon Shriver was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Richard will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Dr. Johnny W. Shriver and Lee Ann Dixon Shriver. Richard grew up in Austin, Texas.
Richard was raised with three siblings. He had an older brother, Robert, older sister, Jonilee and younger brother, James. Richard was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Richard had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Crockett High School in 1975. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Richard enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Richard was able to manage the balancing act. He attended North Texas University and Southwest Texas University.
Empathic and loyal, Richard was committed to making his new family happy.
Richard worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Richard was blessed with two children, son, Drew Allan and daughter, Whitney Paige.
Fortunately, Richard enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Richard worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was an electrical contractor. Richard always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Richard loved his dog, Corky.
Richard passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the age of 55. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Kay Shriver; son, Drew Allan; daughter, Whitney Paige Shriver Wright and her husband, Joshua; his parents, Dr. Johnny W. Shriver and Lee Ann Dixon Shriver; brother, Robert Shriver and wife, Cheryl; sister, Jonilee Shriver Mueller; father and mother-in-law, Allan and Wanda Daniels; sister-in-law, Debbie Daniels, brother-in-law, Royce Allan Daniels and his wife, Terry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held in Dripping Springs, Texas.
Simply stated, Richard was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Richard leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Richard Dixon Shriver.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Richard's honor.
