Richard was born in Austin, Texas, on July 21, 1944, to Violetta VanDevanter and Richard Thorp Weber Sr. He earned both his undergraduate degree and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas. In 1969, he began practicing dentistry in Austin alongside his father and went on to practice for more than 45 years. Beyond providing excellent dental care, Richard genuinely cared for his patients, taking the time to truly know them.
Though a private person, Richard never knew a stranger. He cherished his daily walks through Tarrytown, where he enjoyed visiting with neighbors along the way. He loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially when everyone was together.
In 1967, he met his future wife, Susan Blyth Donoghue, on a blind date, and he proposed just six months later on the dance floor of the Houston Country Club. They were blessed with triplets and were married for 51 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his son, Michael Vincent Weber; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Blyth Farrington Treuhaft, and her husband, Brian; his son, Christopher Thorp Weber, and his wife, Kaylin; and his cherished grandchildren, Rory Treuhaft, Caroline Weber, Gentry Treuhaft, Charlotte Weber, and Maura Treuhaft.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael V. Weber and John M. Donoghue Fund at the Austin Community Foundation.
