Rick William McAlister

Rick W. McAlister, 54, singer, songwriter, musician, of Austin, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 23, 2013. He was born on February 18, 1959 in Corpus Christi to William and JoAnn McAlister.

Rick was a truck driver by profession. However, music was his first love. Rick had the gift of music that he attributed from God. Early on, he played with his musician friends in various bands. Later, he recorded many of his original songs in his own studio where he broadcast many live concerts on Second Life. Rick continued doing this until his untimely death. He loved his family, friends, and all animals, especially his own pets.

Rick was predeceased by his father, William A. McAlister, and niece, Julie Anne Steele.

He is survived by his mother, JoAnn McAlister, sisters, Debbie Steele of Austin and Sandra Matthews and husband Chuck of Leander, his son, Allen, three step-children and two granddaughters and many relatives and friends.

His family wishes to thank his special friend Jane, who set up a nine-hour tribute in Rick’s memory performed by his musician friends on Second Life.

A Memorial service will be held on the 18th of January 2014 at two o’clock in the afternoon, at Parker Lane Methodist Church, 2105 Parker Lane, Austin, Texas, with Rev. Tina Carter officiating.
