

Robert Lawrence Carlton passed away in Marlin, Texas on 12 February 2018 at age 65. He was born to Clara Cleo Carlton and Earl Leo Carlton on 5 December, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by his two elder brothers Edward Carlton and Daniel Carlton.
Robert had a normal childhood playing baseball and dreading spelling tests. He attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Tulsa where he lived among many relatives and made frequent visits to his grandmother's farm. In 1964, Robert moved to Houston. He graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1970 winning a letter in football.
Robert served in the United States Navy during the 1970s. After leaving the service, Robert held a number of jobs until hospitalized for schizophrenia.
Roberts’s quality of life dramatically improved in the 1990s when he went to live in a VA Group Home in Marlin, Texas. Thanks to new more effective drugs and the hard work of the Veterans Administration, Robert's body was gradually healed. Thanks to the loving support of Mildred Stone and residents of the group home, Robert's heart and mind were healed.
Robert never married and has no children. For the last 20 years of his life, Robert was a devout Catholic.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
