

Robert Rembert Guinn was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Robert was born on August 27, 1936 at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas. His parents were Rembert and Nettie Guinn. Robert was raised in Austin and Bee Caves. Robert had one sister, Caroline.
He graduated from William B. Travis High School in Austin Texas in 1954. His favorite class in high school was Agriculture. Robert went to the University of Texas at Austin and achieved a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
Always considered to be a solid friend, Robert was fortunate to have numerous acquaintances and several very close friends during his life. While growing up, some of his best friends were Robert Ceder, Robert Wells and L.T. Garrett. Later in life, he became friends with Bill Holloway and Gary Lehmann.
On February 8, 1958, Robert married Nina Catherine Foster Guinn at the All Saints Episcopal Church of Austin, Texas. He was a source of strength to Nina and he worked hard to make his new family happy.
Robert was blessed with three children, son, Mark and daughters, Robby and Rhonda. They were also blessed with five grandchildren, Cathy, Ashley, Ryan Ann, Clint, and Austin and great-grandchildren, Ian, Emma, and Grant Halstead.
His primary occupation was Civil Engineer. He was employed for 35 years for the Texas Highway Department.
His favorite pursuits were woodworking, fishing, genealogy and ranching. Robert was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Robert was an avid football fan, especially of University of Texas and The Dallas Cowboys. He was a big fan of Texas baseball. He enjoyed coaching from his recliner.
He always seemed to know exactly what needed to be done. In high school, Robert was a member of the FFA. Throughout his later years, Robert was an active member of the Hays Boosters, Pecan Growers Association, and Texas Professional Engineers.
Robert Rembert Guinn passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at home in Bastrop, Texas of COPD. He is survived by his wife, Nina, children, Mark and wife Kim, Robby and husband Rich Berger, and Rhonda and partner Howard Berger; sister-in-law, Shirley Holloway; grandchildren, Cathy, Ashley, Clint, Ryan Ann, and Austin; great-grandchildren, Ian, Emma, and Grant Halstead; mother-in-law, Florence Foster; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M., Chaplain Ronald Kelling officiating. Interment will be at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
