Bob was born on February 22, 1937 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Robert and Mary Ann Lucas. He loved life to the fullest every day. He treasured being with his wife, Suzanne, especially by the ocean, in the garden and around birds. Bob was an avid runner and reader of history. He had a profound desire to help children and the less fortunate. He was a passionate Red Cross disaster volunteer, and also served on the Board of Directors of the Red Cross of Central Texas. He loved his years as a classroom volunteer-mentor in Ms. Heuttner's Pre-K Montessori class.
After receiving his Associate of Art Degree from Pasadena College, and service in the U.S. Army, he held buying positions for a number of years with J. Gardinkel, Inc. in Washington, D.C. and later with Sakjowitz, Inc. in Houston. He traveled the world’s markets, buying men’s fashion, gifts and antiques for these stores and their catalogs.
In 1977, Bob began his second career with the Deauville Corporation in Houston, where he was Senior Vice President. The Deauville Corporation was a multi-faceted real estate company specializing in the development of retail, office and multi-family residential projects. In 1994, he moved to Austin and worked as a consultant in real-estate management until retirement.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne, his children, step-children and adored grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Red Cross of Central Texas.
