

Robert was predeceased by his loving parents, Leo Ridgeway Rodney and Alice Mazza Rodney. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan Rodney Tyler and John A. Tyler, his brother, Richard A. Rodney, and his nephew, Patrick W. Tyler. Robert is also survived by his aunt, Jeanne Mazza Moreau, as well as many cousins, friends, and colleagues.
Robert was born and raised in Houston. Robert’s greatest passion was fishing and the people, places, cultures, and food of the Texas Gulf Coast and South Texas. Among his favorite spots were Rockport, North Padre Island, and South Padre Island. In addition to fishing and camping, Robert was also interested in coastal wildlife conservation and contributed to efforts to clean Texas beaches. He was a dedicated foodie who had a special fondness for seafood, BBQ and Tex-Mex food. Robert was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, his generosity, kindness to animals, and a vast knowledge of popular culture, music, movies, and classic television.
Robert graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and worked for several years in Houston’s restaurant industry. After returning to the University of Houston to earn a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Robert successfully passed his CPA exams and became an accountant for a private firm in Houston.
A lifelong Texan, Robert moved to Austin in 1995 and quickly fell in love with his new hometown. Robert initially began working for the State of Texas as an Assistant State Auditor for the Texas State Auditor’s Office. He subsequently worked at the Texas Senate’s Auditor Office where he was employed as an accountant from 2001 until his passing. He was laid to rest on October 12,2023 at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
Robert cherished his family and friends, and he was cherished by them. He will be greatly missed.
