He was preceded in death by his sister, Dana Goldberg. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his mother, Diane Kissal; his sister, Michelle Goldberg; his brothers, Matthew Sellers and Michael Kissal; his nephew, Wyatt Kissal; his stepfather, Kirk Kissal; his brother-in-law, Robert Benson; and his sisters-in-law, Alita Loveless and Lily Kissal.
Rob was a proud mechanical engineer, earning his degree from the University of Colorado. He had a brilliant analytical mind and a steady determination that shaped both his work and the way he navigated life.
Rob loved his family with a depth that didn’t always need words. He was also very much his own person—a lone wolf at heart—moving through the world with quiet independence and a strong sense of self. He found his peace in solitude, especially on mountain trails with his dogs, where the stillness and open sky felt like home.
He lived simply, intentionally, and on his own terms. Adventure, nature, and the quiet rituals of everyday life were his compass. He cherished cooking with his mom, showing up for his family in his steady, understated way, and unwinding with his favorite YouTube videos.
Rob’s life was marked by humility, loyalty, and a gentle, thoughtful presence. He will be remembered for his independence, his love of the outdoors, and the quiet but unwavering way he cared for the people and animals he loved.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial donations in Rob’s name to The Assistance Fund, an independent charitable organization that helps patients with life-changing diseases overcome financial barriers to treatment so that no one goes without care because of an inability to pay. Donations may be made at www.tafcares.org.
