Roman shared a close bond with his brother Francisco Dimas. The two spent countless hours enjoying music, sharing beers, and occasionally playing dominoes. Roman also had two other siblings – another brother and a sister. His connection with Francisco’s daughters – Deborah, Mary, and Francisca Dimas – was especially meaningful, with Mary and Francisca and their children spending much time by his side.
He was married to Margie Duran Dimas, and although they had been separated for over 35 years, together they had two children: Rebecca Dimas and Daniel Dimas. Roman also embraced his stepdaughter, Denise Duran Loredo, as part of his family.
Roman was a grandfather to Xavier Vasquez (Rebecca’s son), as well as Regina, Marcos, and Raquel Lorado (Denise’s children), and Martin, Mario, Rosalinda, and Rosamarie Ibarra. He also has a son-in-law, Eric Vasquez.
He will be remembered fondly by many friends and neighbors along Palomino Trail Street. Roman loved being outdoors visiting with friends and was especially fond of listening to Grupo Pegasso and Renacimiento 74. One of his favorite songs was “El Negro Gangoso”, which he often dedicated to his son Daniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Dimas and Juana Carrizal, and his longtime sister-in-law, MaryAnn Castillo Dimas.
Roman’s warmth and presence will be missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who shared in his life.
