Ron Urias passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Austin, TX at the age of 63. Ron was dearly loved by his wife Sandy and their children, Ryan, Russell and daughter-in-law Cierra. He is also survived by his father, Frank Urias Jr. two granddaughters Addi and Ellie Urias, sister Janet Henderson, brother-in-law David Henderson, brother Frank Urias III and sister-in-law Laura Urias.
Ron was born and raised in Austin, TX. He was a proud small business owner as an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance for a remarkable 40+ years.
It’s impossible to describe a larger than life personality like Ron’s in just one paragraph. Ron was so many wonderful things: a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend to so many. He never met a stranger. Ron was proud to be a 2nd generation Austinite which he would work into every conversation. He loved his city and community with a passion, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Ron served many years on the Sendera HOA board and was involved in several business associations.
Whether it was a UT football game, ACL, Unplugged at the Grove, Blues on the Green, almost any live music event around Austin, you could spot Ron there in his “Keep Austin Weird” cowboy hat adorned with bottle caps. Inappropriate bordering on embarrassing at times, but always uncompromisingly himself. To honor his memory, live life to the absolute fullest just like he did. There is not one picture of him where he is not smiling. He would never say he didn’t get enough time, he would say he was lucky to have 63 damn good years.
A celebration of life will take place at the Shady Hollow Community Center on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Open house style, BYOB. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in his name or donate to Goodwill (Ron was a treasure hunter) and have a tequila shot for him. Vaya con Dios Ron!
