Ross graduated from Richland Springs High School. He worked on farms and ranches and helped train quarter horses until he joined the United States Army where he served from 1956 until 1968. During his time in the Army he was assigned to the Signal Corps and served at many military posts across the United States, Europe, and Vietnam.
He married Rose Marie Johnson in 1970. He worked in retail sales management for many years, and later in life he was a bus driver and trainer for the Austin Independent School District.
Ross enjoyed reading western novels, watching sports and rodeo, old movies and drinking coffee.
Ross is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Marie. Ross is also survived by his son Christopher and his wife, Barbara, and their three children, Evan, Clare and Thomas, and also, his son Timothy and his wife, Tamara, and their three children, Gavin, Grayson, and Garrett.
Ross was a devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather. May he rest in God's peace.
