Russell worked for Motorola for many years before retiring. After retiring he dedicated himself to ensuring the care of his parents who he loved dearly.
Russell liked playing softball, bowling, fishing and playing on his computer. When his niece and nephews were young he loved taking them different places but whenever they thanked him he would respond by telling them to “thank the Easter bunny.”
He was loved by everyone and will be missed by all who knew him.
Russell is survived by his parents Russell and Juanita Maness, brother John Maness, and sister Kem Wier and her husband Shane. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Russell is preceded in death by his grandparents Harvey and Minnie Meredith.
A visitation for Russell will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 28, 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Jones Cemetery, Cadillac Dr, Austin, TX 78724.
