Ruth Barnes

She married Forrest T. Barnes in the middle 1930’s and they were blessed with one son, Dale. Forrest served in the US Air Force for 34 years and they were stationed in several places, Colorado, Nebraska, England and finally at Bergstrom AFB in Austin where they retired.

Ruth was a faithful and loving wife and mother, always caring for Dale and keeping the home fires burning. She loved sewing and gardening. In later years they enjoyed bowling together and in Leagues.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1986.

She is survived by her son, Dale Barnes of Austin; 2 grandsons, Darren Barnes and Stephen Barnes and his wife, Erika.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

A funeral service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 8th of April 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers and the customary remembrances, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2433 Ridgepoint Drive, Suite B, Austin, Texas, 78754.
