

LaNell was born in Austin, Texas on April 9, 1939 and grew up on the family farm. She attended business school after high school graduation. She started work as an office manager for the Texas Real Estate Commission in Austin in 1972 and retired after 30 years of service. Prior to 1972 while the family lived in Lake Jackson she worked as a church secretary, in a real estate company and had a successful poodle grooming business.
LaNell married James A. Grant on September 5, 1959 at Salem Lutheran Church in Austin. They lived the past 39 years in Georgetown. LaNell was a dedicated wife, mother and friend. She had a passion for good cooking and her pot roast Sunday dinners are fondly remembered. LaNell enjoyed traveling. The family has special memories of vacations to many of the state and national parks of the US. LaNell’s fondness for country life was reflected in her home which she decorated with owls, chickens, bluebonnets and other things Texas. LaNell also had a deep connection with her pet dogs over the years and she will be buried with the ashes of her last beloved pet, Casey, at her feet.
LaNell was preceded in death by her parents John W. and Ruby Kamp.
She is survived by her husband, James A. Grant, and her children, Rodney Grant and Janet Grant, and their loved ones, all living in Georgetown. LaNell also leaves behind many other family and friends in Texas.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Tuesday, the 21st of February 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Light
refreshments will be provided by the family through Cook-Walden Funeral Home Catering Services.
Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 22nd of February, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Austin Memorial Park, Austin, Texas.
The family wishes to thank Carroll Ray Benner, Charles Kullenberg, Fred Wilson and Michael Loney for serving as pallbearers.
