Ruth Avery Reed

Her family moved to Fulton, KY. in 1930 and Mickey graduated from Fulton High School, then attended Nazareth Jr. College and the University of Houston.

She married Donald Reed in 1943 and had two sons, Donald Royal Reed and Randall Reed, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her husband, Don.

On November 20th, 2012 she passed away in her home of 40 years with her family at her side.

Mickey was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, and the Legion of Mary, the Altar Society and the Rosary for Peace.

Mickey loved golf, flower gardening and reading. She is survived by her daughter in law, Brenda Reed and grand-daughter Lindsey Reed.

Mickey, known as “mummi” to her family was a beloved and inspirational grandmother. Her unwavering faith, devotion and love will always be remembered.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Sunday, the 25th of November, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A Rosary will be recited by the Legion of Mary at seven o’clock in the evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at one o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 26th of November, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 4311 Small Dr., Austin, Texas.
