Ruth B. Ruckman joined her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 28th at 98 years of age. She was born Feb 28, 1913 to Adelbert and Carrie Buckholts in Elk City, Oklahoma. Ruth grew up in Oklahoma farming country with five siblings; two brothers and three sisters. Ruth learned traditional family values from her mother and father and believed in hard work and education.
She married Charles Ruckman June 30, 1935 in Duncan, OK. Together they had three sons, Charles Michael, John Delbert and William David. While her husband was serving in the Army during WW II, Ruth was in charge of relocating the family several times and at the war's end the family was living with her sister Mae Buckholts in Norman, Oklahoma.
After the war the family settled in Austin in 1946. Raising three boys, Ruth was dedicated to her family and was the very definition of a "stay at home mom." Clean clothes for the children to wear and home cooked meals were the order of the day. The house was always clean and she demanded that the family eat meals together. Only after her sons left home to pursue their careers did she delve into her own interests, church work and gardening. A member of St. David's Church since coming to Austin, Ruth served on the alter guild and was a member of Daughters of the King.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Ruckman, son William David Ruckman, brothers Walter Howell and Elbert Jennings Buckholts, sisters Lily Mae Buckholts, Eva Gay Pendelton and Dorothy Marshall. She is survived by two sons, Charles M. Ruckman of San Rafael, CA and John D. Ruckman of San Antonio, two grandsons John Michael Orr and Mark David Orr of Austin and grand daughter Leslie Ruckman of Brooklyn, NY.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank New Century Hospice for their services.
