

Ryan served 5 years in the U.S. Army, where he received his training and pursued a career as an air traffic controller. He was stationed in Germany and after serving with an honorable discharge, went to work for the F.A.A. and earned an early retirement. Ryan, followed in the footsteps of both his grandfathers, who were also veterans and had careers in the F.A.A.
Ryan is survived by his beautiful daughter, Kennedy Harvey. She was the light of his life, if anyone could love anyone more, it was his love for her. He was so incredibly proud of the young woman she has become and never stopped talking about her and her achievements.
Ryan also leaves behind his mom, Diana Gaines and her partner Eric Wojner, along with his two sisters and brother, Samantha Lee and her husband Whitney and nephew, Harper, Anna Lane and her husband Andy and nephew, Remy, his brother, Jonathan Harvey and his niece Blaec and nephew Case, along with many aunts and uncles, cousins and his two grandmothers, Mary G. Morris and Joyce Joann Harvey.
Ryan was a deep thinker and had so much compassion for others and for life itself. He was quite the adventurer and traveled the world. Ryan loved meeting people and sharing a moment of time with them. Traveling was his greatest passion as well as chasing the next concert event of his favorite band. He loved new challenges and experiences and truly lived life to its fullest. Ryan took on the responsibilities of a best man multiple times, as well as officiated at one of his closest friends wedding in recent years. This signifies a deep commitment to his friendships, demonstrating his loyalty and a genuine desire to celebrate other's happiness. He had such a warm, engaging personality that made him easy to connect to and had such a positive impact on those around him, earning their trust and respect.
Ryan was predeceased by his grandfather George W. Harvey and following Ryan's passing, his maternal grandfather Richard A. Morris, joined him in heaven.
Ryan will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in San Diego, California at Miramar National Cemetery along with his grandfather, Richard A. Morris.
A Celebration of Life honoring Ryan will be held in San Diego, California. Friends, family, and all who loved Ryan are warmly invited to gather for an evening of remembrance filled with a bonfire, s’mores, pizza, and the music he loved most—celebrating his life, his spirit, and the memories he leaves behind. Since we want to create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, please note that there will be no seating provided. We encourage everyone to bring blankets, beach chairs, or anything else that will help you feel cozy while we gather together.
