

He was born April 13, 1936, in Cedar Valley, to parents, Thomas Ivy Malott and Mattie Lee (Smith) Malott.
Douglas married Shirley Ann (Bailey) Malott on February 8, 1960. They were married for 51 years until her untimely death on October 7, 2011.
Together they had five children: Terry, Sheryl, Bobby, Robby, and Dwayne.
Douglas loved being outdoors. He loved working on his Ford vehicles, watching and playing with his grandkids and great grandkids. He also loved watching old westerns with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, both of whom were his favorite actors.
Douglas was predeceased by his parents; wife, Shirley; brothers, Joe Dudley Malott and William Dale Malott; brothers-in-law, Richard Chadwell and Ernie Gray; and granddaughter, Serenity Grace Malott.
Douglas is survived by his sons, Terry Malott, Bobby Malott, Robby (Patty) Malott, and Dwayne (Lisa) Malott; daughter, Sheryl (Kenneth) Brown; grandchildren, Kara (Chris), Robby Waid (Monica), Ashleigh, Nikki, Tommy (Daniela), Patrick (Julia), Aleesha (Andrew), Tristan, and Shelby; and 17 beloved great-grandchildren. Douglas is also survived by his brother, Donald (Jeanie) Malott; his sisters, Christene Gray, and Genell Chadwell; and sister-in-law, Alice Van Wagner; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
We would like to thank the staff of Hill Country Nursing & Rehab for the care and friendship he received during his brief stay. We would also like to thank the medical staff at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
Serving as pallbearers with honor and grace: grandsons, Tommy Brown, Patrick Malott, Tristan Malott; nephews, David Malott and Tommy Ayers; and son-in-law, Kenneth Brown.
Family will receive friends at Weed Corley Fish South, 2620 South Congress Ave., Saturday, October 19, 2024. Visitation 9:00 – 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Charles Venezio presiding. Interment to follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Austin.
