Sandra Peterson Potts was born on January 18th, 1954, in Fort Worth, TX. She passed away in Austin, TX on November 30th, 2025. She attended Sharpstown HS and UT in Austin, achieving a double Master's Degree from UT.
It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we remember a remarkable teacher and devoted bridge player, whose life was defined by curiosity, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the power of connection. Both in the classroom and around the card table Sandy was a teacher in the truest sense. She taught at McCallum High School and Austin Community College. She approached education not as a profession, but as a calling. With patience she helped countless students discover their abilities, their confidence, and their voice.
Outside the classroom, Sandy found equal joy and challenge in the world of bridge. To her, bridge was never merely a game. It was a beautiful exercise in logic, partnership, and trust. Sandy earned over 3500 Master Points, was awarded two Goodwill and a Star award from the ACBL, as well as two teaching certificates. Sandy cherished the friendships built over countless games of bidding, triumphs, and near misses.
Though she has left the classroom and the card table for the last time the lessons she departed and the connections she nurtured endure, carried forward by the many whose lives she touched. Sandy will always be deeply missed and dearly remembered.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, D. Charles and Ruth Menut, and her brother Daniel Menut.
She is survived by her sister Debra Breed (Rollin), Her son Keith Peterson (Crystal), and two grandchildren Crystal and Austin Peterson, Her son Eric Peterson and grandson Jacob Peterson, stepdaughters Kathy DuPriest (Travis) and Karen Crites (Jeff), Brother in law Charlie Potts (Eileen).
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
