

Shawn Floyd Spindle, 70, of Austin, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. David’s hospital. All are welcome to attend services. Visitation will be from 11a.m to 12p.m., Friday November 8th, at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home South Congress Ave, Austin, TX. A celebration of life will begin at 12 p.m. Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 :30 A.M., Tuesday November 12th, in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, with Rev. Megan Peglar officiating.
Shawn was born in Kingsville, Texas, to the late Floyd. T and Joyce Dishongh Spindle. He attended college at Southwest Texas University where he received a Bachelor of Administration in Government. Shawn served 14 years active duty, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and as an Officer in the U.S. Navy. His tours of duty included serving aboard USS Texas (CGN-49) and USS Guam (LPH-9). Additionally, he worked over 15 years for Austin’s Department of State Health Services.
After retirement, Shawn continued learning new skills and volunteered in many events around Austin. He obtained certifications as a notary, realtor, and insurance agent, along with volunteering at the Mexican-American Cultural Center for over 24 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Floyd Spindle, and sisters, Tammy Lynn Spindle and Robin Kay Spindle.
He leaves behind his daughter, Erin Jordon Spindle; daughter-in-law, Tammy Spindle; and grandchildren, Zoe Michelle Spindle and Silas Spindle; and countless friends as he touched the lives of every one he met.
