Sherry Denise Roan

Sherry Denise Roan passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the age of 76. Sherry was born August 24, 1946, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of the late George Anson Myers and Betty Sue Ward Myers. She graduated from Carter Riverside High School and attended North Texas State University. In the spring of 1966, she met the love of her life, John Roan. They married on September 9, 1967, and together they raised three wonderful daughters, Jennifer, Leigh and Kelly.

Sherry enjoyed a career in university administration at UT Austin in both the Petroleum Engineering Department and the Architecture School. She was also a director and active volunteer of the Heritage Society of Austin.

Sherry devoted her life to her family and enjoyed spending time with loved ones. She committed her time and talents to helping others and anyone who met her came away feeling loved and supported.

Sherry will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John Roan, her three daughters, Jennifer Athanacio (husband Jon), Leigh Anderson (husband Chris) and Kelly Williams (husband Murray). Sherry was known as Mimi to her cherished eight grandchildren: Anna and Natalie Athanacio, Harper and Addie Anderson, and JT, Zack, Ashley and Andrew Williams. She is also survived by her nephew Starley Myers Jr., niece Dian Myers, as well as her beloved dog Bailey.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731.
