

Shyriece Denise Norris, also known as “Riecey,” was born on September 20, 1985, in Austin, Texas. She is the cherished daughter of Hillary Norris and Darnell Williams, who instilled in her the values of love, resilience, and family values.
Riecey completed her education within the Austin Independent School District, where she graduated with her high school diploma from John H. Reagan High School in 2004. She was top ten in her class and an active member of the basketball team. Following her high school education, she pursued higher education at Mary Hardin Baylor then transferred to Austin Community College, where she successfully earned her associate degree in 2015. Riecey then continued her academic journey at St. Edward's University, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. Throughout her education, Riecey demonstrated a strong commitment to her studies and a passion for sports medicine.
Riecey served as an Admin IV for the State of Texas, where she played a vital role in managing administrative processes and supporting various state initiatives. In addition to her work with the state, she dedicated many years to the City of Austin as a referee, scorekeeper, and trainer. Her experience in these roles not only showcased her leadership and organizational skills but also her passion for promoting sports and encouraging team spirit within the community.
Riecey was diagnosed with lupus in 2015, but her unwavering spirit and determination allowed her to pursue her life goals with determination. Those who knew Riecey quickly recognized her incredible resilience; she refused to let her condition define her. While she experienced both good days and challenging days, on her good days, she embraced life fully. She found joy in riding her motorcycle. Shopping excursions with her Auntie (Tracey) filled her days with laughter and bonding, as they explored shopping malls.
Movie nights with her mother were a cherished tradition, providing a cozy escape into the world of cinema. Riecey treasured the long, heartfelt phone conversations with her brother, Jordan, where they would discuss everything from their dreams, sports to their daily adventures. She often took on the role of the overprotective sister, always ready to offer support and guidance whenever he needed it. Her relationships were deep and meaningful, especially with Shanieka, her cousin, who felt more like a sister. Together, they created a nurturing bond that provided both comfort and strength as they navigated life’s ups and downs. Riecey's journey was a testament to her strong-minded spirit and the love that surrounded her.
On June 22, 2025, she bravely concluded her long battle with lupus, a condition that had significantly impacted her health for years. Despite facing countless challenges and relentless symptoms, her journey was characterized by numerous hospital visits, various treatments, and moments of uncertainty. Through it all, she maintained an unwavering spirit, supported by her loved ones. Ultimately, her struggle came to an end, leaving behind a legacy of courage and determination in the face of adversity.
Riecey was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Edgar Walter Norris Jr., also known as Papa. His warm spirit and loving presence had a profound impact on her life, shaping her into the person she was.
Riecey leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and honored by many. She is survived by her devoted mother, Hillary Duncan (Darrell), and her loving father, Darnell Williams. Her brother, Jordan Nichols (Samantha), also shares in the deep sorrow of her passing. Riecey had a special bond with her beloved son Onyx, (Great Dane). She shared a unique connection with her auntie/second mother, Tracey Norris, who provided her with unwavering love and support throughout her life. Riecey is also fondly remembered by her aunt, Roslyn Norris, affectionately known as “Penny.” Her grandmother, Patricia Miller, lovingly referred to as “Granny." She leaves behind her uncles, Walter and Derrick Norris. Riecey’s great-aunt, Rose Davis, will always remember her with love. Riecey had a close-knit group of cousins who brought joy to her life: Toni and Margaret Caro, Shanieka Norris, and Tarlyn Scott. Furthermore, her three closest friends Tiffany (Tiff), Trina (big sis), and Tanishia were more like sisters to her, sharing countless memories and experiences together.
In addition to her family and friends, Riecey leaves behind a multitude of cousins, friends, and colleagues who will forever treasure her spirit and the impact she had on their lives. Her memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
