

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Evelyn Berkman, and a sister. Stanley is survived by his wife, Verline Berkman; daughter, Linda Bell and husband, Jeff; and son, Glenn Berkman and wife, Linda. Grandchildren are Jeff Bell Jr. and wife, Nicki; Beau Bell and wife, Keri; Mace Bell; Scott Berkman and wife, Nicole; Jaime Rackley and husband, Chris; and Chad Berkman. Great-Grandchildren are Zach Schwarzlose, Maci Bell, Austin Bell, Khloe Bell, Makenzie Berkman, Dylan Berkman, Quinn Rackley, Lake Rackley, and Elle Rackley. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Alfred Jatzlau, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Stanley and Verline Jatzlau were married 6-27-1948 at Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville, TX. They have celebrated 67 years of happy married life.
Stanley went to school for the first seven years at New Sweden, a 2-room school house. He moved to Austin August 1938 and graduated from Austin High School in May 1943.
He joined the Navy 11-30-1943 and was honorably discharged 6-15-1946 after serving in the South Pacific and participating in 5 invasions.
After returning home from the Navy, he went to work at a printing company where he met his future wife, Verline. He was a Journeyman Bookbinder with 44 years in the printing business.
Visitation will be Saturday, 3-12-2016, from 5-8 pm at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX. Funeral Services will be Sunday, 3-13-2016, at 2:00 pm at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 200 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, TX. Viewing starts at 1:00. Burial follows at Capital Parks, Pflugerville, TX.
