Thomas Joseph Petrie, 80, of Austin, Texas passed away on May 18, 2021 at his home. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on November 3, 1940 to Myrtle and John Petrie and was the first of five children.
Tom graduated from DeLaSalle High school in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then University of Minnesota in 1963. He was employed at The Horne Company, Franklin and Crescent; retiring from Crescent in 2006.
Tom was the president of BOMA, a member of the Downtown Austin Alliance, The Church of Highland Park as well as other organizations.
Some passions of Tom’s include; golf (he even succeeded in making a hole in one), antique cars, and gardening. He loved traveling to the Texas coast and to Lipari, Italy (the home of his grandparents).
Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jeanie Petrie; his son, Steven Petrie (Debra); his daughters, Susie Connell (Billy) and Lisa Petrie; step children, Everett Byrom III (Lexxie), Michele Christensen (Riis), Craig Byrom and Melinda Rogers (Ron); 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Rasmussen and Judy Smith; multiple nieces and nephews and his buddy Max.
