

Thomas Richard Villegas, 46 years old, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2007. Richard was born in McAllen, Texas and became a life-long resident of Austin. He attended Del Rio High School and received his BA degree from Southwest Texas State University. Richard played football in high school and was coach for the little league teams in Del Rio, Texas. Richards passion includes motor biking, boating, camping, cook-outs, and restoring cars. He was an avid mechanic. Richard was a kind loving person with a big heart who gave of himself. Richards spontaneous joy, affection, and generosity drew many friends and co-workers to him and those countless friends were always there for him. He had an uncanny and caring ability to stay in touch with his friends and family throughout every period of his life. He was employed by the State Comptrollers Office in Austin for 12 years. He was committed and very dedicated to his work, his clients and to his co-workers. His co-workers remained steadfast in supporting Richard in many capacities. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Victor V. Villegas; his sister, Judy Villegas Ruiz; and his niece Marlise Villegas. He was a loving son who is survived by his mother, Helen C. Villegas, and his wife, Lilly; and five brothers, and three sisters, Hector, David (Diana), Steve (Tina), Cindy Werland (Ed), Dan (Dolores), Julia Holladay (Dan) Albert, Kathy Howard (Harris), and many nephews and nieces. Richard had a special relationship with all his brothers and sisters and a profoundly loving relationship with his nephews and nieces. The family is deeply grateful to all of the outpouring of love and support, including fundraisers and countless visits. The family wishes to thank South Austin Hospital nursing staff and Dr. Meyers. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, November 2, 2007 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph A. Tomei, CSC officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery
