Una Jones (Sandy) was born on April 15, 1924 in Lee County, Texas to Ruby Ruth and Roy Standford.
She grew up in Lee County surrounded by her mother, father, sister and brother, and she graduated from Beauty School in Austin, Texas as a young adult. She worked as a Beauty Salonist on Sixth Street until she married Buford Harlen Jones on 1-17-1947 at the end of World War II.
They have three daughters, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She loved the holidays; she would spend hours making sure every little thing was in order for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter vacations. She also loved to make desserts; of course she is famous for her chocolate cream pie!! She also made beautiful flower and wreath arrangements.
Her favorite time was with her grandchildren. Mom loved to spend time with them all, most of the time, a trip to the ice cream shop was in order for many of them.
Sandy worked at the church and Buford's Tile Company as a book keeper until she retried.
In 2006 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and struggled with it unit her passing.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Buford Harlen Jones; sister, Violet Naomi Glover; daughters Donna Kay Jones Heine and Janalee Ruth Jones Canga; granddaughters, Lynn Michelle Voigt, Nichole Lee Canga, and Danielle Elizabeth Canga; grandson, Greg Richard Heine; great-grandsons, Cody Scott Witt, Colten Richard Heine, Tyler Bryan Witt, and Hunter Shane Heine; niece, Belinda Carole Glover Gamez. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Ruth Banner; daughter, De Ellen Dickerson; grandson, Jason Bryan Cooper; brother, Haywood Lefay Stanford.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, North Lamar.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012, at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
