Vidsyl Mendoza Cretencio of Austin, Texas passed away on March 31, 2023 at the age of 45 after a brief journey with cancer. In her final days, she was surrounded by her mother, daughters, and friends.
Vidsyl was born on May 23, 1977, in Manila, Philippines. She was raised in a lovely town named Tibiao in Antique, Philippines by her beloved grandmother Consolacion. Vidsyl cherished her childhood there and described it as some of her happiest times. She had wishes of going back to her country to spend her last days at her family’s hacienda.
Vidsyl graduated from the Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Memorial School of Nursing - Makati Medical Center in 1999. Throughout her career, she worked at Makati Medical Center, was a travel nurse in the Unites States, and finally settled in at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center where she worked for nearly 15 years. She was passionate about her work as a nurse and gave her very best to all her patients.
Vidsyl was a generous mother, daughter, sister, friend, and colleague. She was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, traveling, designer purses, jewelry, karaoke – she was a very good singer. But most of all Vidsyl loved hosting her family and friends, she sure knew how to throw a party!
She had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. Vidsyl touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. We are going to remember her beautiful smile and big heart.
Vidsyl is survived by her two daughters Angelica and Kyla, her mother Sylvia, and siblings and many other family members in the Philippines, Japan, Florida, New Jersey, and California.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, caregivers and friends for the care and compassion they showed our loved Vidsyl in her final days.
The family requests that guests wear bright colors, instead of black, to celebrate Vidsyl's life.
