Gina carried the beautiful in her at all times and was such a gift to our family.

She always blessed us with her love, wonderful hugs and ever so contagious laugh and smile.

Gina was more than family, she was a friend to myself and my children who loved her so.

She will be missed everyday in our lives which are brighter for having had her as a part of it.

Your spirit will always live on in us Gina...

I was am still in shock over Gina's death.   She was a big part of our family and today, all of our hearts are heavy and grieving over this sad  news.

I visited with my dear friend on my birthday, April 6th, at Starbucks.  The day was glorious, A Gina Day.  She greeted me with her contagious smile and two dogs wagging their happy tails. She got herself a coffee and each of her pups, "foam" in a small cup.  I shook my head, and exclaimed,"When I die, I want to come back as one of your part-human, part-dog friends." She looked at me and said, Well, they no longer give dog treats here....like how dare they?? She was always so incredibly sweet to all children and moms who wanted to pet her companions and talk about how beautiful they were.  Gina would beam. 

I will always remember her beaming smile when I look at the sunshine. She adored nature and would want all of us who loved her to appreciate the outdoors and our pets in her memory.

"Another Beautiful Day in Paradise!!!"

Since we lived next door to Gina, we saw and spoke to each other almost every day.

Gina loved our neighborhood, riding her bicycle twice a day up and down the road, stopping to visit with neighbors and their dogs and just enjoying each moment of each day.

Without fail when we would part company, Gina would beam a glorious smile, tilt her head up, and proclaim "Another Beautiful Day in Paradise!!!"

Our neighborhood will miss Gina, but will always hold her fondly in our memories.

My heart felt condolences to Gina's family. Gina was my "sister" and I miss her in my life, already. Since we met in 1992, we would meet for dinner after work, once a week. We talked on the phone,just about every day.  We learned from each other.  We ran our thoughts and actions by each other as we trusted each other to be completely honest. We laughed, cried, worked and traveled together.

God's speed my wonderful friend, til we meet again.

I am a beneficiary of the "odd cirles that intersect, bend and reach to connect...." that Marceline spoke of in her poem, "Serene".  Gina, we lived on the same street, for who knows how many years, never meeting, until the circles did at last connect, with you and I having been shown our most important common bond, two loving mutual friends.  The usual words of expression for loss of someone loved, just do not seem to fit what I feel, as I am sure others feel the same.  My loving farewell, Gina.

To her family, these poems were written  while with Gina, my very dear friend who I will miss so much:

Serene  

As we talked at table of this and that,
a rogue wind slipped in
and lifted her heavy cypress boughs
into a sigh
that would not die
until we stopped
to listen.

I wrote this little poem in 2002 while sitting with Gina on her deck between the lake and her pool.  Literally, on a quiet afternoon an unusual gust of wind blew into the limbs of the lovely cypress tree Gina had named “Serene” and drowned our conversation until we stopped and listened to it.  It was an "awesome" and majestic moment – a quintessentially Gina moment.  I wrote the poem on the spot and gave it to Gina.
 
I don’t know if you know this but when Gina bought the house, she saved the tree from destruction.  It was not doing well. Gina refused to cut it down because she wanted to try to   nurse it back to health.  She did --  beyond health and into majesty.  No one lets huge trees grow next to a swimming pool, but Gina did,  and the presence of the tree Serene enhanced every day that Gina lived there.  In retrospect,   Serene is also a wonderful name for the Gina I knew.

Here’s another moment we shared – the light lines dancing in the bottom of her pool, with so much gratitude to Gina for reaching out to so many people and including them in her embrace:
