

Virginia passed away October 16, 2009 at MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas. She was born July 24, 1933 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Harry Philip Walton, Jr. of Yazoo City, Mississippi and Virginia Hawk, of Memphis. She attended Southwestern at Memphis, now Rhodes College, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. Virginia was a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity for Women. Virginia met her husband, "Mac", McCullough Edgar Hines, Jr. in Dallas, Texas and the two were wed on May 30, 1964 in Memphis. After a few moves, the family settled in Austin in 1975, with their two boys, Tommy and Larry. Shortly thereafter, they founded the Western Hills Youth Soccer Association, moved into Lost Creek and founded the Lost Creek Neighborhood Association. As a Realtor for over thirty years, Virginia made many friends. She was an active member in Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church. Virginia was a pillar of her community and proud American, exemplified through her associations with her church, neighborhoods, sorority, bridge groups, Bosom Buddies, and the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was active in genealogy research, enjoyed travel, politics, gardening, and tennis for many years. She loved God and her family, and was a devoted and loyal friend. Virginia is survived by her family in Austin: husband, Mac, son Tommy and wife Susan, grandson Thomas, son Larry and wife Amy, grandchildren Emily and Brandon, and her brother Harry Philip and wife Sally in Raymond, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22nd at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Westlake Presbyterian Church, 7127 Bee Caves Rd. Graveside services will be private.
