

He moved to Jourdanton Texas where he graduated from high school, excelling at football and basketball. He then attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville before enlisting in the Air Force for the Korean War. While he was stationed in Alaska, he married his high school sweetheart Irma Deane Curtis in 1952.
After discharge he resumed his education at the University of Texas at Austin and received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1957.
He was employed with Celanese Chemical Company for 28 years. Two of his major accomplishments were as Project Manager for the new Celanese plant in Clear Lake, Houston, TX in 1966 and later the new chemical plant, Ibn Sina, in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, in 1984. Following his retirement, he continued working at Espey Huston and Jones Neuse in Austin, TX, until retirement in 1998. Wamac and Irma Deane have enjoyed membership at First United Methodist Church, Austin, TX and the Wedding Ring Sunday School class for many years.
Wamac is survived by wife, Irma Deane Soward, Austin, TX; Sons: James Franklin Soward, Austin; Stephen Curtis Soward (Jaye Lynne), Austin; Dean Thomas Soward, Austin; Daniel Kent Soward (Tina), San Antonio; Grandchildren: Sean Thomas Soward (Autumn), Virginia Beach, VA; Marie Soward Sofijczuk (Scott) Austin; Arri Morris, Austin; Adrienne Morris, Austin; Ronnie DeLeon (Irene), Ft. Worth TX; Rita Jones (Jason), FT. Worth; Great-Grandchildren: Ashlin Pariseau, Austin; Emerson Sofijczuk, Austin, TX.: Sisters: Eunice McCarver Sims, Houston; Margaret Pickett, Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 1201 Lavaca Street, Austin, TX 78701.
