Throughout her life she was an avid reader of all genres. She especially liked historical biographies and Texas History. She loved genealogy and spent many hours in libraries and cemeteries across Texas researching her roots and family history. She was a member of the First Families of Tennessee and of the First Families of Texas. She valued her membership in The Daughters of the American Revolution and The Daughters of the Republic Texas. She was a long-time and Laureate member of Beta Sigma Phi.
She had a love for all of God’s creatures, especially birds of all kinds and dogs. She had a very extensive collection of dogs that filled in the spaces of her book shelves between her many books. She loved to sing and sang in church choirs when she was able. She enjoyed traveling and in the past few years had checked some places off her “bucket list” including Victoria, British Columbia, Graceland, Memphis, Nashville, and the Grand Ole Opry, Tennessee, and Churchill Downs in Kentucky. She almost made it to the Grand Canyon.
She always had a smile for everyone. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her daughters and grandsons. She will be missed by many.
