Wayne Jerrold Hollevoet, age 85, of Manchaca, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 9, 2022. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite his pain, Wayne came out a hero and stayed strong until the very end. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Wayne Hollevoet was born June 4th, 1937 to Hazel & Phillip Hollevoet in Williams, Minnesota. After Wayne graduated from high school, he went on to join the United States Air Force as an airman, serving around the globe, a patriot in the Vietnam War. Wayne received numerous declarations of medals, badges and ribbons for outstanding service.

Wayne retired from the Air Force with an honorable discharge as a SMSgt after 28 years of service. After serving our country, he started his career at Capital Metro as a bus operator and retired after 20 years.
After retirement, Wayne Hollevoet and his companion Shirley Groot sold all their belongings, bought a fifth wheel and spent their time traveling, fishing and bonding with friends and family. Wayne was a kind and humble man with a heart of gold. Over the years he donated to many charities, volunteered in serving our country’s veterans and playing Santa for many different organizations. Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Wayne Hollevoet was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Shirley Fay Hollevoet; companion, Shirley Groot; son, Robert Dean (Bobby) Hollevoet and Daughter, Melody Ann Dalton.
Wayne is survived by his son, Wayne (Ana) Hollevoet of Manchaca, TX; daughter, Janette Hollevoet of Lampasas, TX and grandchildren, Rebecca (Chadd) Adams, Dakota (Sarah) Dalton, Jonathan (Maddi) Hollevoet, Jessica Dalton, Dorothy Dalton, Sabrina Hollevoet, Bobby Barker, Daman Barker, Evette Bowen, Joshua Dalton, Eric Dalton, John Michael Groot, Kelly Edwards, Vance Hackney, Marie Castillo, Jessica Castillo and Karin (Guillermo) Cajas along with 22 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Wayne will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
