Wesley Miles Burford, Jr. died suddenly in Austin on March 30th. Born in Glendale, California on August 16, 1937, he moved to Texas at the age of 14. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann DeSalme Burford, and five children; Scott Burford and wife Angie, Wesley Burford III and wife Jan, Donna Osborn and husband William, Chris Burford, and Jennifer Rubin and husband Stephen. Wesley was blessed with ten grandchildren; Scott and Erin Burford, Taylor and Marshall Burford, Catherine, Mason and Cameron Osborn, Russell Hunziker, Megan Burford, and Bailey Rubin. Other survivors include his mother, Evelyn Laas, and his sister, Judy Hancock of California and numerous extended family members. Wesley was employed for 30 years with the Texas Department of Transportation, ending his career as a purchasing manager. After retirement he assisted with his wife's bakery shop, Ann's Kitchen, where he was the only employee fired repeatedly for insubordination! His favorite pastimes included reading, gardening, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He was dearly loved and will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish, 3125 North Lamar on Saturday, April 4th at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org.
