Wilburn H. Simpson

Wilburn is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Jean Simpson; one daughter, Brenda Gayle Wilbur and her husband Scott Wilbur; the brother-in-law he raised, Lee Wayne Bostick and wife Carolyn; 4 grandchildren: Paul Vaccaro and wife Betheny and their 6 children; Shirley Woodside and husband Woody and their 4 children; Frances Davis and her 4 children; Tyler Wilbur and wife Caitlin. He is also survived by brothers: Floyd Simpson and wife Sandy; Fred Simpson and wife Brenda; and sisters Paula Swartzlander and Christine Watts and husband Sammy.

He is preceded in death by two daughters: Tammy Marie Simpson and Rhonda Lee Simpson; six brothers: Pete Cantwell, Charles, Jimmy, Eugene, Calvin and Billy Simpson; and three sisters: Ruby Pruett, Dorothy Allison and Joan Chaney.

Wilburn was born on March 15, 1934 in Austin, Texas to Archie Hermon Simpson and Irva Lee Simpson. On April 3rd 1954 he was married to Shirley Jean Bostick and the couple had 3 daughters, Rhonda Lee, Brenda Gayle and Tammy Marie Simpson. Wilburn was a wonderful family man and a loving father. His family meant the world to him. In later years, he enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He worked hard for most of his life but he was also a very social and active man who enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. His family and friends will always remember him as a character: but a very generous, kind and loving person. He also enjoyed playing music with his friends and just chatting with old friends. He will be missed so very much.

The family would like to thank the staff of New Century Hospice in Killeen for all their help and support to the family this past year (since May of 2019) and the members of the Victory Tabernacle for their continuous prayers throughout this past year and a half; as well as the many friends, family and facebook friends who have prayed for us for many months.

There will be a visitation Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday, August 17, 2020 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. The Reverend Kenneth Haggstrom, Sr., of the Victory Tabernacle will officiate the services. The service will also be live-streamed on Facebook on the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes page. Interment will follow the service at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
