He married Doris Geraldine (Jerry) Fogle on January 27, 1950 in Austin, Texas. Bill would fondly remember working as a lettering artist for Modern Sign Company a number of years before going to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he retired following 35 years of distinguished service. A dedicated brother Mason, Bill was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Freemason and called Austin Lodge 12, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons his home lodge where he volunteered countless days later in life. His service so distinguished and respected, the Grand Lodge of Texas bestowed the honor of the Golden Trowel Award, designated as the highest award a Lodge can bestow upon an individual member, in the spring of 1996. An avid hunter and angler, some of Bill’s favorite times were hunting mule deer in the Colorado wilderness and white-tail deer closer to home in Fredericksburg, Texas with friends and family. Fishing freshwater at the Capitol Rod and Gun Club on Lake Travis or out of a Welcraft with son Mark in Port O’Connor, Texas, Bill treasured these times. Ultimately, Bill always looked forward to coming back from his adventures to the love of his life, Jerry.
