

WILLIAM R. FITZGERALD William R. Fitzgerald, age 83, passed away July 26 following a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta Bobbie Fitzgerald and son, William Rick Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin, his parents, Robert and Nora Fitzgerald, sister, Nora Bradford, and brother R. D. Fitzgerald. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from Union University where he was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity after receiving a B. S. Degree. After college he joined the US Air Corp.and received the rank of captain. He served in World War II in the South Pacific and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medals. He returned to Bergstrom Air Force Base and made Austin his home where he met and married his wife, Bobbie, and had a daughter, Robin and a son, Ricky. He went into the wholesale lumber business (Koelzer Lumber) and then ran his own lumber business, Fitzgerald Lumber Sales. He had a large circle of friends and enjoyed being with his family. He loved football, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He will be missed dearly. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
