Mack (he was known to most by his middle name), was raised in Abilene, TX, where he attended McMurry college, after which he moved to Austin, where he graduated from UT. He was a retired worker for the Texas Secretary of State. Mack was also known to many as a long time Texas actor, his previous profession for about 20 years. He had served on the SAG Board of Directors (Screen Actors Guild), and was a member of AFTRA (American Federation of Radio and Television Artists). He believed in the power of unions, and was a passionate liberal Democrat (he had a number of his letters to the editor published in the Statesman and other papers). His friends and coworkers knew him for his intelligence and kindness, but he will mostly be remembered as a wonderful Dad and loving husband who tended for years to the health of his wife, Teddy. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Dublin Waldrip, and by his brother, Otto James Waldrip. He is survived by his mother, Ethel Waldrip, his brother, Elwyn Guy Waldrip, his son, Damon Waldrip, and his wife, Teddy Waldrip. Services will be held on Sunday, March 11th at 3 PM at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin.
