It is with profound sadness that the family of William Done Williams III (know as Bill by his family and Willy by his friends), 77, of Austin, Texas, announces he has gone on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 14, 2020. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Linda, of over 54 years, his children Jennifer Birkenheiser (and husband Kenneth), Sam Williams (and wife Paula), Jon Williams(and wife Crystal), brother-in-law Mike Burnside(and wife Patti); grandchildren Chris Birkenheiser, Ava Williams, Courtney Birkenheiser, Emma Williams, and Emily Williams; and nephews Steve and Scott Burnside.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Done Williams II and Hallie Williams.
Bill moved to Austin from Lancaster, Kentucky, with his wife, Linda in 1970. He worked at IBM for most of his career. While his children were growing up, he enjoyed coaching them in sports, and if he was not coaching, he was on the sidelines cheering them on. When his grandchildren started playing sports, he was always on the sidelines cheering them on as well.
Bill also enjoyed gardening. He grew many different crops over the past 50 years, but he mastered growing tomatoes. This year, he had a bumper crop and grew so many tomatoes that what he and Linda could not eat, they would give away to family, friends, and even strangers. He was known as a jokester and always wanted to have fun. He did not know a stranger and always had a smile on his face.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Seton Medical Center for their care and compassion while treating Bill over the past week.
In an abundance of precaution, the family will not hold formal services. Bill was a lover of children and animals. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Dell Children’s “Buddy Bags” program, which his daughter, Jennifer, helped to start up
