Yunqing Xia

YunQing pursued his academic passions with dedication, earning both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Shandong University in China. He later expanded his expertise by obtaining a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Throughout his diverse and accomplished career, YunQing served as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Shandong University before moving to the United States. There, he had a colorful career, working across many industries. Several highlights of his career include working as a mechanical engineer developing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in Honolulu, Hawaii; an electrical engineer developing arcade machines at Smart Industries in Des Moines, Iowa; and a software engineer developing infrastructure for cloud storage at Hewlett Packard in Houston, Texas.

He is remembered with love by his wife, Yili Wang, and their son, Shenghui "Stephen" Xia. He also leaves behind his father Kejun Xia, mother Renying Yang, younger sister Yangu Xia, and younger brother Yunqi Xia.

YunQing had a kind and outgoing spirit that touched those around him. He found joy in watching soccer and playing tennis—pastimes that reflected both his enthusiasm for life and his active nature.

A memorial service was held to honor his life on May 12, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

夏云卿于2025年5月5日在德克萨斯州奥斯汀市辞世，享年59岁。他1965年9月7日出生于中国浙江宁波。

夏云卿毕生潜心学术，先后在中国山东大学获得机械工程学士及硕士学位，后赴美国夏威夷大学马诺阿分校深造，取得计算机科学硕士学位。

他职业生涯丰富而卓越，曾任山东大学机械工程系助教，赴美后横跨多个领域绽放光彩：在夏威夷檀香山担任机械工程师研发暖通空调系统；于爱荷华州得梅因市Smart Industries公司担任电气工程师开发街机设备；后在得克萨斯州休斯顿惠普公司作为软件工程师构建云存储基础设施。

他温暖的身影永存于妻子王一立，爱子夏晟辉（Stephen）心中。父亲夏克君，母亲杨仁英， 胞妹夏燕姑，胞弟夏云起亦深切缅怀。

云卿性情温厚开朗，以热忱感染身边众人。他钟爱足球观赛与网球运动，这些爱好既诠释了他对生活的热爱，也映照着他活跃的天性。

2025年5月12日，亲友们齐聚奥斯汀举行追思会，以寄哀思。
