I've been looking through Facebook, trying to reconnect with old friends, when I found Donya's sister, Mary, and this guest book.  It's been many, many years, but when thinking of you, it has always been with great fondness. I used to love when Donya would call to speak with you and we would end up talking for a half over before we'd remember why she called.  Such a beautiful energy, an incredible wit and an amazing laugh. Gary and I send our deepest condolences, and hope that you both find comfort in the beautiful words that so many have written here. Donya touched many, many hearts.  Take care of each other.

Last time I saw Diane was just before she left Lasalle to be with Larry. We had many good laughs over those earlier years. I met Mary in January I think, at a grocery store and she told me how sick she was. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Respectfully, Debbie Quartz

Dearest Emma and Larry,

My memories of you and Diane go back as much as 13 years as your Early Childhood Educator at Garderie éducative Chez Danielle.  It was a blessing to have known you and had the opportunity to be part of your lives.  I still remember Diane's magical motherly instincts and pure love for her daughter.  She sure would stand out in a crowd and I cannot express how I admired her as a parent. Diane was always supportive and kind, always full of contageous joy!  I was very sad to hear the news from my sister Danielle.

We are all deeply saddened with the news of the untimely passing of such a wonderful lady. Diane was truly a remarkable person.  Always positive, funny, selfless and caring.  Few people were left untouched in her wake and her memory will live on in our hearts.  Our deepest sympathies to the family who were infinitely  supportive throughout this ordeal. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have known and loved Diane for a long time. It seems so wrong that such an innocent and sweet person should have to go so early. When I think of her, I always see her pixie-ish smile and recall her impish sense of humor with its touch of mischief. 

I feel honored to have gotten to hang out with her a bit through her best-friendship with my sister Debra. While I didn't get to see her in recent years, I am not surprised at the courage, strength, and consideration for others that many are saying she displayed during her ordeal.

I will never forget her and I cherish some blessed memories from my days in Two Mountains, when I was living at home and she would drop over or I would join her with my sister and other people every once in a while. Rest in peace, Diane.

Diane was a special girl.  Had the honor of knowing her and Debbie Rawling as two of the most fun loving and energetic duo that ever happened to our cottage years at White Acres.  Sorry to hear of her passing but nice to see from the other postings that she never lost her knack of deeply touching every heart that knew her.

I am deeply saddened & sorry for your loss. I knew Diane from Lasalle Quebec & have many fond memories of her...I haven't seen Donya over 20 yrs since she left Quebec but when I think of her it is like yesterday was the last time I seen her. She has left a great impact on many people & her strength & courage over the 18 months battle with Cancer is an inspiration to Me! She will always be remembered from her friends, family, and Co-Workers. Love you Donya and I will walk the 60 km in Montreal 2012 in your honor! Love you very much.

I had the pleasure of meeting Donya in CPC Payroll Operations. I can't say we knew each other well, but without  fail, whenever Donya saw me in the office, she made it a point to come over and speak to me. We would have a grand chat about our lives at work, our families, and life in general.   She was truly one of friendliest, most personable and genuine people I have ever met. That is how I will remember her.
I hope that there is some comfort for all of Donya's family and loved ones  in knowing that she has joined our Lord in Heaven, in perfect peace, in perfect spirit, and in perfect health. God bless and keep her always.

Larry and Emma, I worked with Donya and feel so blessed to have known her. She was one of a kind; a beautiful person who lived life with great humour and love for everyone around her. I miss her so much but Donya taught me to cherish every moment as she did. She will live on in all our hearts.

For me its particularly touching  to see how many CPC folks have been there for you. I remember well when she moved from Montreal and the first day she started at CPC -  and how she brightened the office.  Ill always remember the day she stood on her desk and with a huge grin on her face told a certain someone "dont you patronize me you smart alec!!"   We had so so  many laughs. The very first time I met Diane, we were 15. I was immediately struck by her beautiful big eyes, with the longest lashes I had ever seen.  Her hair was in pigtails, and she was wearing a headband.  (It was very cool back then to wear a headband) Aside from her physical beauty, though, I was struck by her energy, her life force.  She was so full of joy and energy.  She never lost these qualities, through all her trials.  She bore them with such grace and dignity.  I have lost a very dear friend.  I can only imagine the loss that you feel. Donya was the bravest person we know. She never complained and faced every challenge with courage and determination. We are truly blessed to have had her as a daughter and sister. We have many cherished memories to help us through this difficult time as we adjust to life without her. Her passing has left a huge void in our hearts that can only be filled by knowing that she is in heaven with all those who have loved her and have gone before. She knew the universe is vast and that she would take her place as a guardian angel to watch over her beloved daughter, family and friends. We know she is with us in our hearts. Donya will now watch over us to help guide us with her love and spirit. Listen carefully to your heart and you will know this truth too.

During her time of need, she had many wonderful friends who came whenever needed; at a moments notice. They travelled far and wide to express their love to Donya. We are truly grateful to all of them, for their support and kindness when she needed it most, and we know Donya was too. Thank you to all those who stayed by her side. We find great comfort in knowing that she was so loved by all those she touched in life. Thank you to all those who have reached out to us in our time of great sorrow. The memories are comforting and remind us of her immense inner beauty and her gift of laughter.

The loss of a child is deep and inconsolable, especially one so young. The only comfort is knowing that she is resting in peace. 
When we look at the night sky, we know that there is a star burning bright, as bright as Donya's smile and sparkling brown eyes. 
Let's all try to smile and laugh more and that will be a great legacy to Donya.

I know that words are inadequate at a time like this but I wanted you to know how very sorry I am learning of the loss of Donya despite her bold and courageous battle.  I have lots of unforgettable and fun memories about Donya through our life of 20 years at Canada Post. We know that we must accept her passing and give thanks for the wonderful life she lived. As sad as it will be, we will always have the memory of her to hold in our hearts. I pray that you both find the strength to see you through this sad and difficult time. 
So many will miss her — she was a lovely, gracious, sympathetic, funny, very special person. It is an honour to have been her friend. We will continue without her, but it won't be the same. We will hold her in our hearts forever.

I am truly saddened by Donya's death. Donya was more than just a friend; she was an amazing person.
