I knew Ed very well from about 1982 to 1990. I remember him intimately. He was always a man full of generosity and extraordinary compassion. There’s never a time in my life back then, or even since then, when I didn’t whole heartedly respect that man. I cherished him in my late teens and into my early adulthood as a dear father figure who always took me under his wing, gave me respect and looked out after my (and my family’s) interests. 

One very touching story I vividly recall with this beautiful soul of a man is way back in 1984 (I think?) when his family’s beloved dog ‘Charlie’ wandered away from home as he often did.  Ed and I combed the neighborhood for Charlie when all of a sudden we happened upon that poor little animal having just been hit by a car not far from home. He was still alive, but barely. We got him into the car and rushed him to the vet. While in the emergency room, I remember how Ed started to cry. He was overcome with grief. He told the vet to do whatever he can, that money is no object — that he himself will go hungry if necessary so that his little ‘buddy’ could be saved. Well… the vet said there was nothing that could be done, that poor ol’ Charlie would need to be put down. Ed succumbed to great sad emotion right at that moment and asked God to take him into his lap — all with tears down his face . It was just he and I in the room, and he made me promise never to divulge this side of the story until long after he was gone. You see, it’s because he had told his family, his children, that Charlie had died instantly, that he didn’t suffer. Ed didn’t want them to know how painfully their poor pet actually did suffer before we were able to get him help. In that moment, as a young man, I learned two very valuable lessons… That true love knows no bounds, and It’s sometimes necessary to bear the burden of a painful memory, in solitude, in an effort to protect others.

Rest in peace Ed. You’re a saint. And hey… say hello to Charlie for me. 

I'll remember Ed for his effortless contributions through SSVP in helping people who were going through difficult times.  Ed treated me like a good friend and I felt that's how he treated everyone, joyfully.  I cherish my memories of Ed and I feel Ed did everything he could in helping others:  "As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience."  Colossians 3:12

To the family, we offer you our deepest condolences. We've known your dad for about 9 years which is when we moved across the street.  Your dad just loved to socialize and when he came over we would have such good talks especially laughs. He will be missed.

M. Leblanc a été un membre exemplaire du Conseil particulier d'Aylmer de la Société de Saint-Vincent de Paul. Sa bonne humeur et son entregent  a permis à plusieurs personnes en difficulté de retrouver un peu d'espoir et de dignité.
Nous regretterons son enthousiasme pour longtemps.
Une messe sera dite en son nom.

I will always remember Ed's beautiful smile and twinkling eyes. He was a joy to talk to and our community was blessed to have him. He helped so many people.
He will be greatly missed. All my sympathy to the family.

Although no words can really help to ease the loss your families bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.

Mes sincères sympathies à toute la famille.  Bucko pour moi était plus  qu'un ami, c'était un frère. On  ne peut penser à combien de personnes qu'il a aidé,  c'était un sauveur pour bien  des gens.  Pour moi son décès me touche profondément comme si c'était mon frère que je n'ai jamais eu.  Plaisir, rire, amitié, généreux  c'etait ça Bucko.
Bon repos en haut, attends moi,  j'irai te rejoindre un jour.......

My sincere sympathies to all the family of BUCKO as we all call him.
He was such a jolly fellow. I have known him  since  he was young.  I used to go at his home , friend with his sister Marie.
It was such a nice family.  Edmond was always smilling and full of fun.
