Hélène Avon

Beloved daughter of the late Daniel Avon and the late Simone Avon (née Rondeau) and devoted mother of Louis Bissonnette (Lisa Bissonnette), Robert Bissonnette, Carole Lacasse, Ghislaine Gunville (Marc Latray), and step-mother of Michael Ouellette (Dawn Ouellette). Hélène was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Francine Laurin, and her step-son, Raymond Ouellette.

Affectionately known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, she will be deeply missed by Marie -Josée Bissonnette (Sylvain Labelle), Sophie Shortliffe (Joey Shortliffe), Marie-Soleil Bissonnette, Michèle Lacasse, Chantal Desormeaux, and Danielle Bissonnette. Her memory will also be cherished by her 12 great-grandchildren, and she will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Hélène and Sam opened their home and hearts as foster parents, providing love and stability to children in need. A woman of great heart and energy, Hélène lived to entertain for the masses during the holidays and while hosting at the cottage, famously preparing elaborate meals; she will be fondly remembered for her incredible ability to bring loved ones together, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished traditions and full hearts.

Family and friends will celebrate Hélène's life at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp funeral home at 271 St-Joseph Boulevard, Gatineau on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:30. Service will begin at 11:00.
