It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Victoria (Vicki) Young on Sunday, December 18th. After a short battle with cancer, Vicki passed away peacefully and was surrounded by loved ones at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Ottawa.
Vicki was a devoted wife of over 56 years to Cliff, loving mother to Tim (Shannon), Jason (Andria) and Jenifer (Mike), adoring grandmother to Michael (Elodie), Hailey, Ashley (Josh), Paige, Lauren, Quinn and Reagan and great-grandmother to Aubrey and Harper. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Rhena Cole, her sister Jacqui and granddaughter Kristin.
Vicki loved spending the summer months with her family at her home on Crow lake where time was never wasted. Days were spent making memories; in the water, on the boat, playing games, enjoying good food and music, and simply being together. There was always an abundance of fun, love, and laughter. When not at the lake, Vicki could be found golfing and socializing with friends from the Rideau Lakes Golf and Country Club. She spent many years at the club organizing and fundraising for various events and serving on the board of directors.
For the past 20 years, Vicki and Cliff spent the winter months in Florida with their Fairway Village family. While there, Vicki was usually hosting a party, attending a party, or planning the next one! You could find her at the pool, the beach, the golf course the clubhouse, or of course, out shopping! Wherever she was, you could guarantee she would be there with friends, a smile, and open arms to welcome you.
Vicki will always be remembered for her love of life and adventure, and her wonderful sense of humour. Her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren and the many cherished memories. She was a gift to all who knew her and she will be deeply and lovingly missed.
The family would like to thank family and friends for the outpouring of love and kind messages of support. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff on the oncology floor at the Ottawa General Hospital as well as the staff and volunteers at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice for the utmost care, dignity, and respect they provided during our stays with them. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the hospice or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Visitation is planned for January 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp Funeral Home located at 47 Rue Denise-Friend in Aylmer. Funeral service to follow on January 13th at 11:00 at St Mark’s Catholic church located at 160 Rue Principal also in Aylmer.
