Milestones in my life are no longer the same donkey. Every thing comes back to you in some shape or form. You never leave my mind or heart. I could only imagine what you would have done for my big 4-0. I can still picture you waiting at my parking spot holding a bag or box over your head after quickly flicking your cigarette on the floor. I’ll never forget those moments ever. I love you and can’t wait to see you in my dreams again.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.  You have my most sincere and deepest condolences and may Mr. Anthony Mariano rest in peace. 

I am a Cardozo graduate, class 2007. I came across the news of Mr. Mariano because I was just sharing a story with my friend, of how my social studies teacher had taught us U.S. politics in such innovative and fun ways that it left a mark on me after all these years. I was never one to really interested in history and politics until recently, but in high school, I aced those classes because I had Mr. Mariano for a year, for history and U.S. Government. I was just googling him to hope to reconnect with him after all these years to tell him what a great job he did, and that after more than a decade later, the seeds he planted in me, rooted and blossomed. I'm saddened by the news headline of his passing in this tragic and sudden way, because he really was a great teacher, one that the world needs more of. He was kind, caring, and passionate,  what an incredible soul. He touched me, and many other students and people throughout his life, I'm really grateful for that.

I have a lot of great memories of hanging out and having tons of fun with Christie and Anthony but my favorite memory will always be my very last one, when my son, James, and I came up this past summer. James had never played basketball or even held a basketball before. They had a basketball hoop in their driveway and a small one in their pool and my son instantly became OBSESSED. Anthony played basketball with us until it was pitch black out that night. As we were leaving to go back home, he handed James a basketball to take with him. That made my heart melt.  It might have felt like a small thing to do for Anthony but it made such a big impact on my son. It sounds like this is how he lived his life every day by doing these kind small gestures which made big impacts on people lives. We need more Anthonys in this world. He will be truly missed.

Dear Mr. Mariano,
I would like to specially thank you for your effort and kindness to all your students. My son, Daniel, is a 9th grader in your class and a fan of you. He loves your exceptional way of teaching social study by using modules.  With a great amount of pressure from heavy school work, your class is the only thing he looks forward to everyday. He takes your class as a joy. He has never had any teachers like you who helps him with learning in such an effective way. I got lucky to let you know on phone that how much my son loves your class at parent teacher conference. I still remember your reply: "thank you, that makes me feel good." My son misses you very much. He still goes to your Google Classroom often to see your dog's picture and remembering you. We would like to sincerely thank you for the love and memories shared, and give you all the best wishes from us.

I came to know Anthony on the baseball field when playing with the Levittown Highlanders from 2007-2009. Being someone who was new the the group, I can remember Anthony being the first to introduce himself to me and make me feel at home. His attitude was infectious and   in our short time together his genuinely happy disposition made a huge impact on me. A great human being. 

I was honored to have spent Sunday’s talking and playing baseball with him, and eventually finding a shared love for Pearl Jam.

My little Anthony

The metaphor is there was nothing little about him.  From a young age I saw his passion that was so extra and watched it grow to something so much bigger than himself. So apparent in all the lives of those he touched.  It was this sensitivity to so much of the world around him that made him truly a one of a kind human. My life will never be the same, like so many others and I will do more good to make you proud.  


Anthony, I could not get myself to write in your book. I guess I was avoiding it because I knew how difficult it would be.  Christie gave me a little nudge. 
  You and I always had a unique bond, maybe it stems from me naming you after my Dad who I loved beyond words. I did not give you my sports genes, you know I did not really have very many of them.  I gave you my love, caring, compassion and sentimental genes and you took them and ran with them.  
  I am so very proud of the man you have become and all the lives that you have touched with your gentle unassuming ways.  You truly made a difference in so many people's lives and you were unaware of it.  You gave of yourself freely never expecting anything in return.    
You are "My Unsung Hero"!  I know my Dad is so very happy to finally meet you!
 Now I want to make you proud of me and continue to carry on with my life like you would want me to do. I will conclude with the last few lines of a poem I wrote many years ago.

To My Beloved Anthony 
 
As I write this memorial to my son we are separated into 2 places, you deservingly in heaven with Christ our maker and your mother and I, brothers and sister here on earth, praying for you and grieving our loss. 
  I can't express the profound emptiness I feel inside, but trying to fill it with the proud feelings of the joyous and wonderful deeds you accomplished in your 44 years of life.  The elation and joy you gave to your friends, students, classmates and family are beyond reproach.  I can't believe the baby born before my very eyes would grow to be so influential  to so many young minds and get so personal with them.  The helpful things you did for those in need burst my heart.  They exceed any great play, base hit or goal scored.  Mom did a great job instilling social caring and sensitivity in all of you children.  I went along for the ride, sports and politics were my forte.  I so loved teaching and playing ball with my children and all of you had better than average abilities.  Anthony, you had skills that exceeded mine.  You played with grit and determination.  I fondly remember the time you were pitching and made great plays, back to back hard shots to the mound.  People talked about it for a week. I was so proud of my 10 year old son.  Through the years I loved practicing with you, and when MacArthur won the New York State Championship, that was the best.  
  I will forever miss your smiling face, salty language, political reasoning. Till the day I die I will forever treasure the best gift I ever received, the baseball saying , "To my Dad you are the best, better then all the rest Love, Anthony".  I will bring it when I see you again, and have a catch on that heavenly diamond.

I had the privilege of being in Mr. Mariano’s class for two years. Mr. Mariano was an amazing person. He was there for his students and treated us like family. I hope you rest in paradise Mr. Mariano. I pray God gives all your loved ones strength through these tough times. Fly high! 

Had to be around 1989 or 1990 Anthony and his friend Sean we had some crazy fights with them water fights, water balloons, running around the house and manhunt. I had the family station wagon over the Mariano's house one night. After long night go out to car and all 4 hubcaps missing. Look around neighborhood. There they all are strung up in the trees. Good times. Anthony was the best. He will be dearly missed. 💔

We are extremely heartbroken over this tragic loss. We always looked forward to seeing Anthony at our family gatherings. Our conversations would always end up discussing our mutual love for the Yankees (and the ultimate fall of the Mets). He is a beautiful soul.  Anthony will forever be in our hearts.

When I was welcomed into the family, Anthony and I would talk very briefly, however it was always either a funny comment he would make, or him asking how I have been and school. He would always tell me Matt was right about trade school. When I told him I wanted to be an English teacher, he started telling me about his job as a teacher and his students. He always spoke highly of his students. 

I will never ever forget Christmas Eve was when the family would get together at his parents house, Anthony came up to me and said “Me and Christie got you a gift” and Christie walked up and they handed me a snowman, when I opened it, there was a amazon card. He was so so kind and always wanted to make the people around him happy. He looked at me and said “Christie thought it would be nice to put it in the snowman, we were talking to Matt about what we should get you , an amazon card was the best”. I responded “Thank you, I love it, yes I love amazon” 

I only knew Anthony for 2 years, but for those 2 years whenever he would call his brother Matt, I would hear him ask how I was or if I was coming to wherever the family was getting together. I will never forget him. For those 2 years he was very welcoming. We have a few memories and I will always hold on to them.

I remember being in Mr. Mariano’s social studies class and just remembering it not sucking like all social studies classes. He was always a fun teacher with a smile on his face even when we’d play practical jokes on him. I don’t ever remember skipping his class because he made history interesting and I always remembered him for that. It’s not common you remember a teacher from high school unless they had an impact on you, and that’s exactly what Mr. Mariano did for me. I’m sorry to the family and may he Rest In Peace. 

I am so glad to have had the pleasure of being in one of Mr. Mariano's classes while attending Cardozo from 2006 to 2009. One of my fondest memories of him was when someone at our school set off firecrackers in the hallway outside of our classroom at Cardozo as a prank, and every one of the students in our class immediately dropped to the ground beneath the desks assuming it could be gunshots. Needless to say, Mr. Mariano ran without hesitation into the hallway to see what was going on and came back in to reassure us that it was just a prank as he swooped his hair like it was totally no big deal. But beyond being a great human being as he truly was, he was such an amazing teacher who made social studies fun and interesting to learn about, by presenting it in such a way that made you genuinely want to listen to him teach it. Making it a class you can truly excel in, as I was fortunate to have been able to because of him. He is one of very few teachers from Cardozo that I remember particularly well to this day because of the impression he left upon me. When I think back to my high school days, being in the classroom, and what it felt like at that time in my life, I specifically remember being in one of his classrooms more than anyone else's. I am thankful to him for that, and to all of his teachings that truly set the bar for me to what having a great teacher truly felt like. I hope he is in a better place! RIP Anthony Mariano, you will be missed by so many!

I just want to send my condolences, I work at home depot on crooked hill rd ..I met Anthony years ago in the electrical dept that's my aisles and we hit it off and became friends,he always had a smile and was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet ,he will be missed through out the store ,again I'm so sorry for your loss

I remember the first time my Aunt Christie brought Anthony to Mommom and Poppa´s house.  He said he played baseball, so we had a game of catch.  We threw the ball around until I overthrew him, and the ball rolled into the lagoon.  Anthony dropped his glove, and with all of his clothes on, jumped into the water after the ball and ultimately got it back.  

With Anthony, I always expected group texts about the Yankees, or any bad news about the Mets.  He would always try to poke jabs at Poppa about any game updates or breaking news that went wrong for Poppa´s favorite team. 

We were all so excited about the future with my Aunt Christie and Anthony.
All we have now, are the great memories.  
We will all miss you Anthony.

Since the viewing, Robin and I cannot stop talking about the outpouring of love for Anthony we witnessed by his many friends, coworkers, and all who attended.  Listening to everyone and realizing the impact Anthony had made on the lives of so many people was beautiful.  

Anthony, we were always impressed with you, your knowledge of sports, history, and your skill of demolition, but now we are even more impressed with how you have touched so many.  It was the love you had for our daughter Christie that touched our hearts the most.  You were a great man, and will always be, an everyday part of our family.

Dear Anthony, it's been one week since you had to leave us... there is so much we are struggling with in the wake of your passing, but this last year with you I'm seeing, was so God-given. 

On Oct 24th 2019, you were the first sibling to meet Seraphina, and the last time she saw you was Oct 24th 2020, for her first birthday. She was given exactly one year in your presence. You were there for all her 'firsts'. You were such a loving, kind-hearted and sweet uncle. We know how much you loved her, and treated her like your own, and we were so thrilled you were her Godfather. I am so happy we spent so much time with you , Christie, Jemma and Sir Blackie of Kings Park this year, that was the silver lining of the pandemic. We loved every minute of being with all of you. Every meeting with the family was such a joy and blessing, and the last one with everyone together, even new puppy cousin Leo, was such a gift. 

We will never forget you Anthony, and Seraphina will know you, as she grows up with our memories of you. You will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. We know one day we will see you again brother, as we hold to God's promises, and each other, until then.

10 years.  We've been together TEN years.  2010-2020.  
I LOVE YOU with all my heart.  I'm so in love with the family we created...you, me, BLACKie, CC, and our angel, Jemma.  I'm saddened, angry, in disbelief that you were tragically taken from us in such a senseless way.  My Anthony, I will never understand why this happened to you.  
After buying our first tiny (but love-filled) home 3 years ago, I'm forever grateful we spent these past 8 months with your family, our closest friends, and our neighbors, helping one another survive quarantine...one happy hour at a time.  Since postponing our wedding due to Covid, we made the absolute best decision to upgrade our backyard and get a beautiful pool...and we were fortunate to be swimming by mid-July!  After your mom and sister first arrived to our new backyard, they were like "WHY GO anywhere else?"  Our pool brought the family closer and we couldn't be happier!  Matt, Kim, and baby Seraphina came over more than ever.   Mom and Kristin were over a couple times each week.  Looking back now, this time together was priceless.
My sweet Anthony, at this time it's nearly impossible to imagine a future without you.  I can say I will forever be your "Nutsky."  I vow to keep the nuthouse ALIVE.  I'll continue to keep an EVEN FLOW of food for the birds, squirrels, and stray cats who may cross our PORCH.  I promise to upkeep the GARDEN in honor of all your hard work.  You loved being outside, whether shooting hoops and listening to JEREMY come on the radio, or mowing the lawn, or perhaps just chilling with a cold beer listening to sports radio.    Listening to Pearl Jam will never be the same...the lyrics to OCEANS now have true, DEEP meaning for me...so in the fine words of our mutually loved Eddie, I leave this.  "Hold on to the thread....the currents will shift...glide me towards you...know something's left...and we're allowed...to dream of the next time...ooooh, oh, the next, time we touch." Anthony was my brother-in-law. He was a very caring person. He had a heart of Gold.

Vincent and I have three children. I recall each time I was in the hospital after giving birth that Anthony would call me to congratulate me and to ask how I was feeling. He would also either text me or call me on my birthdays. I always thought it very kind that Anthony would take time to reach out to me. This year, I celebrated a milestone birthday, and I loved it that Anthony telephoned me, and we had a very nice conversation; this was the last time I spoke with Anthony.

In early 2014 I had to travel to New York (from Florida) for a very specialized (major) surgery that is only done by a small number of surgeons in the country. I stayed with my aunts in Long Island, and Anthony and Christie (along with several of my other in-laws) came to visit me just after the surgery.  I love it that they cared so much to make the time to visit me. 

I cherish that we were able to have one double-date. A few years ago, Anthony and Christie visited Florida, and Vincent and I met up with them at the Margaritaville Hotel in Hollywood. We had an awesome pizza dinner. Afterwards, we walked around the hotel. Christie showed us a video of Anthony attempting to surf in the hotel's surf machine ("FlowRider Double"). I could not stop laughing!! The waves from this thing would keep knocking Anthony off of the surf board, but he would get right back up to try again. Over and over again, he would get knocked off and end up sliding down the thing, but then he'd get right back up to try it again.

Anthony,  you will be sorely missed from this earth. You have been a beautiful brother-in-law to me and a wonderful uncle to my children. We love you. 

Anthony and I played baseball together.  For the brief period of which I knew him, I found him to be passionate and fully committed to game that he loved.  He was the perfect teammate.  Mo was always the first to arrive and had a deep knowledge of the game of baseball.  What really struck me though was his humble nature.  He contributed to the team in many ways,  and when complimented for his play,  he brushed off those compliments as if he wasn't deserving.  I believe that it was his "team first" attitude that was responsible for this attitude.  In addition to being highly respected by his teammates on the Giants,  Wolfpack and  Astros,  he was respected throughout the league as well. He will certainly be missed.

Anthony and I met in elementary school. We became instant friends and kept that relationship for the better of 34 years.  We shared many memories and I truly considered him a brother.  
For those of you that were lucky enough to know him, I’m sure we will all miss his sharp wit and unique sense of humor. 
Anthony was thoughtful, kind, and an all around great guy!  You could always depend on Anthony to be there...no matter what.  
I’ve been in Vegas for 14 years now. In that time, Anthony has never failed to send a happy birthday wish or simply  remind me to keep in touch.  
We were so excited to reunite at Anthony’s wedding. Both of us talked of being in “good places” and finally reuniting for what we hoped was the start of a long “part 2” of our friendship.   
To Anthony:  It’s been a very hard week, my friend. I can only hope you are in an amazing place.  With God’s grace, we will be together again.  For now, I’ll carry you in my heart and never forget what you meant to the people around you.

Anthony most likely pushed me out of the womb, and thus began our journey of life together, twins. We were inseparable at times growing up, and I always wanted to be him. Anthony was the alpha twin, faster, smarter, better looking, better at sports and always finding the better music first, thus he pushed me to become better in life at anything we competed in. Conflicts abound yet after the dust settled we would be back to enjoying life as twins. 
  I adored him, fiery passion obsessive at times with whatever he put his mind to complete.  A twin love , that is unlike any other, a unique connection bonding our souls together yet allowing us to see the world with two perspectives, we loved being each others twin.  Anthony projected that unique bond we had to his pets, friends, family especially his fiancée Christie.  
  Twins are born to share, that's who Anthony was, sharing his love for life with all of us and I feel so blessed to be a part of that. The sorrow at hand can not compare to the love we  were able to share now and forever until our last breath. 
  I will twin my brother, helping others in need, teaching students to have self worth,  taking care of stray animals and loving  family and friends with the love of two souls because that's exactly what Anthony would do for me, and anyone who was a part of his life. 
  There are many things i will miss dearly about Anthony however, the most important  things have become a part of me and nothing could ever take that away.  With Gods grace in time we will be together again in heaven likely this time you pulling me in.

My deepest condolences to Christie and the entire Mariano family. He was the most genuine and selfless person I know. I met Anthony in 6th grade and we became instant friends. We played on the same baseball and hockey teams growing up.  He was a great athlete that always played 110%.  In 7th grade my father had a heart attack and Anthony must have called my house phone 10 times a day to find out if I was ok.  He had the biggest heart. I never forgot that. I am lucky to say he was my life long friend.  We spent every weekend together along with our other core friends through college and as we got older planned boys weekends away to act obnoxious without our girlfriends and wives trying to tame us.  We had great times.  I’m also thankful that we had the opportunity to play an insane amount of golf this past year. I’m going to miss you jinxing my putts and then laughing when I missed them and our chats in between swings.  You left a mark on so many and it’s not fair that you are gone. I can’t wait to see you again my friend.  With that big smile.  I love you Tony.  

wanted to again extend my sincere condolences to the Mariano family. . .I was one of Anthony (Mo)'s teammates in baseball the last few years and got to really respect him as a player and for how he always worked so hard and gave 100% every game. When I think of the word "Scrappy" he immediately comes to mind. . .he seemed to be universally respected and liked by all his teammates and even many opponents, no easy feat. . .also we shared  a love of Pearl Jam and  going to concerts and I got to go to a show with him one time. . .his loss has hit us all hard and we'll always remember him. . .

Anthony is leaving one beautiful & amazing legacy behind... one of love, kindness and passion.
His love for Christie, his animals, his family & friends, was all that he needed in life. I always admired Anthony for his simplicity and his zest for life. I will always hear his voice saying,  “Tootie”!!! “Blackie”!!! “Cece”!!!! And the cat Owen always loved, “Chubbs”!!!!
His kindness was palpable, and it always extended to anyone who became a part of his life, like our family did.  I will never forget how he would love to spoil the kids. A Mr. Softee for Owen,  a Metallica album for Colin and an Xbox tournement for Nate.  The boys absolutely adored him and will always remember the little things he did. 
His passion, for his work, his students and his values were admirable. He had such passion when he would talk about new lesson plans for the students and why he did them. All he wanted to do was show them and teach them how to love themselves for who they were. Not for what the magazines and photoshopped ads were showing them. I will remember this conversation with him forever. 

Anthony was a one of a kind, genuine person who I and my family will never forget. We are so terribly sorry for your great loss and send all our love and deepest condolences at this time.

He was a great teacher, an even better person. I offer just a memory, one of my favorites in his classroom. It was Valentine's Day, and he was so excited for the class to end so he could head home. Of course, as nosy as we were, we pestered him till he finally told us why. He was going to make a wonderful dinner for his girlfriend. I loved that day. We all sat there and teased him till he was just a standing tomato, everyone continuing to make cute little comments. 
Rest in Peace Mariano, we miss you. 

The words that  were spoken to me today only confirm why I knew Anthony meant so much to me. SELFISHLENESS 
EAGER TO PLEASE and thoughtfulness  was everything he cared about. WHAT WE SHOULD REALLY TAKE  FROM WHAT ANTHONY WAS IS THAT WE CAN EFFECT  MANY PEOPLE'S  LIVES  BYE EMBRACING  THEM!!!HE DID THAT BETTER  THAN I EVER IMAGINED!

Mr. Mariano was my 8th period intro to law class freshman year. I always looked forward to his lesson because I know that every lesson was going to be really fun. He was one of my favorite teacher and cared for his students deeply in his class. He taught me a lot about the real world and to focus less on our electronics. He has influenced a lot of people and he will be missed greatly. I am really sad that he passed away. My condolences go out to his family.  May he rest in peace.

Mr. Mariano was not just only a great teacher but a great person. I had the privlegde of being his student my sophomore year for media studies back in 2016. When I had issues at home during this time I would continuously come in late or just cut class. He noticed when it first started and had many long talks with me during PTA with me and my mom and he would tell me how much potential I had and to use my capabilities to the fullest.  He truly spoke directly to my heart and I understood his message clearly and capitalized on it. But the main two things I learned from Mr. Mariano is not all news is real and to keep pushing no matter the circumstances.

Truly a tragic loss. Mr. Mariano taught me Junior and Senior year of high school, and he was literally my favorite teacher. I'd come home most days raving about his jokes and  what a great man he was. He really did care about all of his students and made sure everyone felt important. When I graduated, I kept wishing my younger sister would get him as  teacher and experience his enthusiasm and love for teaching. In which she did. I'm glad she got to meet this wonderful man and realize the impact Mr. Mariano has for all of his students. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Mr. Mariano.

When I heard the news I was extremely shocked and devastated. On Friday November 20th, I attended his class and never thought it would be the last time he was going to teach us. I had Mr. Mariano for two years, I had him in person and had him virtually, both times I've had him he was very passionate about his teaching, and made sure everyone understood the lesson. He created strong relationships with his students, treated them with respect, and was very kind. Every time someone messed up, he always started fresh and acted like nothing happened. Mr. Mariano made me interested in Law, and made me understand it more. He has influenced many people's lives and will be missed greatly. My condolences goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Mariano, as much as we didn’t know each other that well due to virtual learning, global was pretty exciting. The actual class that I was able to stay up for, social studies is my favorite subject, he wasn’t trying to make life harder he would go and give us a shortcut when it came to giving out work, all we had to do was write it down. I was honestly looking forward to meeting Mr. Mariano in person, but unfortunately due to these circumstances we won’t, when I found out the news my heart dropped literally.. I can’t imagine the pain your family is going through, and i’m just happy that you don’t have to suffer.

Mr. Mariano was my 7th period intro to law class freshman year. I always looked forward to attending his class everyday knowing that each lesson would be entertaining. He was one my favorite teachers I have ever had and he was very caring towards each one of his students. He taught me a lot about how the real world works and to focus less on social media and more on living in the present. He has influenced many people's lives and will be missed greatly. Even though I never got a chance to meet Mr. Mariano in person, I know that I really would’ve enjoyed his class. For the short time that I got to know him, he was a very funny and understanding teacher. May he Rest In Peace.🤍

There were times where I would have baseball catches with him, ask him to help me with social studies and then I would ace that test. I wish I put down my phone more and spent more time with him, but nonetheless he was a great uncle, and a great brother to my dad. Rest in piece Uncle Anthony. You will be missed and cherished by all your friends and family.

I was very fortunate to work with Anthony for 8 years at Cardozo.  He was an excellent teacher and he loved his students.

Speechless,  shocked,  heartbroken; were my first reactions to the horrible news of Mr. Mariano's loss.  My heart broke for his family, friends and students as I learned about the tragedy.  While I only knew him for the few months I've been at Cardozo as a freshman, he has already impacted me in ways I cannot decipher.  He sparked my interest in law that I now plan on pursuing, essentially helping me figure out what I love.  His engaging explanations and kind, understanding words were what truly inspired me the most.  I will forever respect him and admire him for them.  As my very last period of the day, one would expect that his class would be the one I was most eager to get over with.  However, Mr. Mariano made it be my favorite class which I could never get enough of. I would always be excited for his class and to continue seeing him during my years at Cardozo, especially when we finally met in person.  I would then later rant to my friends and family excitedly about the things I had learned that day and how fascinating they were to me. He seemed like such a genuine and sweet soul that wanted the best for everyone else. I could feel his love for his job through his lessons, which is hard to find in teachers oftentimes. I honestly still cannot believe he's gone.  I will always remember his last words to me, "Have a great weekend and see you next week!" I responded with a simple, "you too, see ya!", not ever expecting it to not come true. I am both grateful for the time that I had with him and angry at the world for making his time so short.  Again, my heart goes for everyone who knew Mr. Mariano, especially his loved ones. I can't even begin to phantom how devastating it must be for those lucky enough to know him closely, it already hurts so much when I knew him for such a short time. Hard to see such a good person go when he least deserved it.  Rest In Peace Mr. Mariano.   I hope you know how many people's lives you changed.

Mr. Mariano was a great teacher. When I transferred into Cardozo, he gave me no pressure and was really nice with everything. He was crazy about the election and wanted all his students to learn and actually understand what was going on during the elections. I will always appreciate and remember his kind heart. 

Mr. Mariano was the one teacher that was very passionate about his job. You can tell by the way he made it fun for everyone. Although I've only had him for 3 months, he was my favorite. He was so authentic and he made sure to express how much he didn't like social media. He never let that affect him. He was the funny, cool teacher that made school enjoyable. He made a great impact on me in the 3 months that I had him. He will me missed.

My time with you was short, too short. I still can’t believe that you’re gone. From day one you were always filled with energy, and made sure in class that everyone had a voice. You cared for everyone’s opinion on subjects like gun control or police killings. Anything and everything. I send my condolences to you, your friends, family, and all the students you impacted. mr. Mariano was truly such an amazing teacher and by far my favorite. i didn’t know him for long but with the few months i did i knew he loved what he did and really cared for each and every one of his students. class won’t be nearly the same without him but i’m happy i was lucky enough to have him for the time i did. 


Mr. Mariano  was a genuine and pure person. He made class interesting and fun. He made his students look forward into joining his class every single day and never failed to put a smile on our faces. Mr. Mariano was my law teacher in 9th grade last year and I always looked forward to attend his class. His class was stress free and made me enjoy the rest of the day.  He showed the class that he cared about his students and was always up for a conversation. He is one of the nicest teacher that I had ever had. Rest in Peace Mr. Mariano. Mr. Mariano was one of my first teachers at Cardozo and one of the few I genuinely admired. He taught me life lessons and always made sure all of his students learned something about life while in his class. I admired his hatred for social media because I knew I could never do what he did and be completely disconnected. His lack of social media use was so visible through him. He was an authentic and raw person that was truly himself, never influenced by the media. He was a teacher I truly learned from and I never stopped greeting him when I saw him in the years after I had him.  He will be missed and I hope he left this world knowing he impacted so many. RIP.

Mr.Mariano was an amazing teacher he hated phones and how much time we would spend on it. I remember laughing as to how grumpy he got when explaining why phones were bad. He was an amazing teacher that thought me a big lesson in life. Such as to never being late in life because life would go on and as to explaining why phones were bad. He has impacted my life and I truly admire him may he rest in peace.

If you were in his class then you knew this man wasn't like any other teacher, Mr. Mariano was a good man who cared about his job and wanted to change the lives of many students in Cardozo HighSchool. He was such a charismatic guy filled with positivity and joy.  It's just sad to see someone who was close to us in the beginning, all of a sudden be taken from us just like that. But to Anthony's family, I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that you find happiness once again.

In loving memory of Mr. Mariano, he was one of my favorite teachers and he truly held a special place in my heart.  We could all tell as his students that he really cared about each and every one of us, and we can all say with admiration that we loved him back.  I can say with confidence that he really impacted my life in a positive way and has really helped me grow as a person overall.  I will never forget how much he respected me and my peers.  No matter what we did or what we said, he respected us and would really treat us like we were his own kids.  He was a very kind-hearted and genuine person.  We all truly loved and appreciated him. Mr. Mariano was my 1st-period political theory teacher. He always said even if your 1 second late, you're late! How in the future your boss will fire you. Also, he hated social media, he would always be like it's trying to scam you! You are their products! The kids didn't care but they understood. He taught things we never heard of before and was so kind, I remember seeing his black cat during google meet and he was kissing it and snuggling, he also wore very comfortable to school and compared it to the students being like "see, I know you guys despise my clothing bc you guys are teens and like fashion" which showed his bright and funny personality. His class was very interesting and fun, he will always be remembered by all of his students, he was a great teacher.

Mr Mariano was a great guy he really cared as teacher. Mr Mariano was a guy who made class fun and he also gave everyone a new beginning everyday. We bonded  over the Jets he wrote in my notebook last year  that the Jets are going to go 0-5 they went 1-4 when they got there first win we laughed over it. He was a great guy. I am really happy god put him in my life for the short amount of period he was in it. I am happy i got to meant him. 

Anthony was a loving man.  He always bought a smile to my face.  He is loved by his students and his colleagues.  I was blessed to call him my co-worker and my friend.  He is leaving this world a better place. Anthony always left the room, the interaction, the conversation, the moment BETTER than it was before he entered it.  I will miss you deeply.  Thank you for your friendship. 
To Christie and all of Anthony's Family, Thank you for sharing him with us.  Know that He is Loved and that we are sending that love to you now and always.  He will live in our hearts.

Such a tragic lost, had him 2 years ago when i was a freshman. His class is one of the few that i anticipated, one of the few that was fun. He would have so much patience for his students, and pour his time into the lessons. We would have debates, watch videos, and jeopardies for extra credit. I would also wave hi to him in the hallways when i was an upperclassman last school year. His passing made me feel grateful for the memories i shared with him, rest in peace and fly high.

Mr.Mariano was my favorite teacher because he was the most kindest person i have ever meet, he would be there for us when we would need help.  He cared about us and making his classes interesting and fun.  I remember him hating social media and talking about he does not have social media and we would argue with him. i will miss Mr.Mariano and i hope his family heals from this tragic loss. 

Mr. Mariano used to be my third period political theory teacher. I used sit right in front of his desk and we would just talk. We'd mostly talk politics but it was nice to just talk to a teacher. He was one of the most chillest teacher and made learning fun. Whenever I'd walk in the class and see the tables in groups, I knew we were going to play jeopardy. He believed that every student deserved an education and Mariano made sure of that. Every student learned about the country we live in and during these times, his class was super important. I learned so much from Mr. Mariano is such little time. One year was enough for me to say that he was one of the best teachers I had. I wish I had more time with Mr. Mariano, one year just wasn't enough. I'm heartbroken that he is no longer with us and my heart goes to his family and loved ones. 

You were an amazing teacher who taught me so much about what it means to have a positive outlook on life. Everyday we always talked Mets and Yankees and it was fun to have a little rivalry but you were one of the first teachers that I really liked having conversations with. You will be deeply missed by everyone.

Um i don't really know what to say i was his student and let me tell you that i loved being his student. He was an amazing teacher and like an amazing person in itself. I loved going to his class. He always made it so fun and interesting. What he aimed to teach us is exactly what we learned and more. I could not imagine that something like this could happen, i was expecting to see him the next time school opens. But sometimes what you don't expect even in your wildest dreams happens. I want Mr.Mariano's family to know that A LOT of people will truly miss him. May he rest in peace and know that he had a positive impact in the world as long as he lived. ❤💐

Mr. Mariano was my first law teacher in Cardozo. I use to start my day off by going to his class. He tried everything in his power to make Law class interesting and fun.  And he definitely succeed to do so. He was such a great teacher and an even more amazing person. This world took him to soon and it is very tragic for many. I am so sorry for loss. Mr. Mariano was my global teacher my freshman year. I remember that walking into his class was always a breath of fresh air. He never hid that he cared about us and wanted to see us succeed. I remember him losing his mind when anybody came into class even a minute late because he said something like “you can’t be late to your job, you’ll get fired”.  There are many memories I have of him, but I hold on to this one because it shows how hard he tried to prepare us for the world.   I will take this memory with me and make sure to always be on time, for Mr.Mariano. He is greatly missed and I hope that his family may heal from this tragic loss. Rest in Peace. 

Mr. Mariano had been one of the most amazing teachers I had gotten to know. He was always the most kind-hearted teachers, he cared for all his students and would make the most out of his classes. He never complained, even when I dragged him on a trip to Philadelphia to chaperone 80+ students.   He loved his students and this is evident from all the memories my current students shared with me.

Even though I did not have Mr. Mariano he was part of my morning every single day during freshman year. I would sit in front of his class waiting for my best friend to come and he would always joke around with me. Telling me why I'm always in front of his class even though I didn't even have him and he would call me weird for it. He would always greet his students and would have the biggest smile on his face. 


I am so sorry for your loss! Anthony was a wonderful person.  I really enjoyed talking with Anthony as we walked to our cars leaving Cardozo or when Geker and I would see him and Angelo walking around the neighborhood during lunch. He was such a nice guy and will truly be missed. May he Rest In Peace!

A few years ago, Anthony and I co-taught a U.S. History class together.  This is where I learned about his love of history and more importantly his love of the students he taught.  His enthusiasm and knowledge of history engaged all of his students.  He had the innate ability to reach the highest level of students,  those who may have been struggling and anyone in between.  Anthony was there for all students.  He was a master at his craft and will be deeply missed by all.

Mr. Mariano was my second-period social studies teacher.  Mr. Mariano's class would always be my favorite class. He was very nice and his classes were a lot of fun. I remember one time on election night, he hosted an election night event at 10 PM and he was so excited about the election and showing us some outcomes that could happen. It was a lot of fun. Rest in Peace Mr. Mariano.

As a freshman, Mr. Mariano was the first teacher to start off my day. I never once left his class without happiness, he was like my sunshine, lighting up my day. He was the kindest teacher I had, most days he would wait outside to greet and welcome his students. I remember the times where he would host a jeopardy to review for our tests, and if we got the wrong answer he would tell us that it was ok, that everyone makes mistakes. He was a joyous teacher, one that would not fail to come to class without a smile on his face. I will forever miss my favorite teacher in Cardozo, Mr. Mariano. 

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Anthony.  Over the years, Anthony and I would have the occasional hallway conversation about music,  but the most memorable conversations I ever had with him, were by far, the ones where he wanted to show off the amazing work of the students that he was so proud of.  He was an incredible teacher and a model for all the younger colleagues in his department.  Cardozo HS was undoubtedly a better school because he was a teacher and he will be forever missed by our entire school community whom he touched with his generous and loving spirit.

I just started Cardozo High School and Mr. Mariano was my Intro to Law, Political Theory and Ethics teacher. Unfortunately, I didn't really have an opportunity to meet Mr. Mariano in person, but he was a great teacher and even though we only did Google Meets, I learned a lot from him. I am so sorry to his friends and family. My condolences to everyone. I wish I would have gotten the opportunity to get to know him better.

I was not very close with Anthony but was lucky enough to share a classroom with him. Every day I walked into the classroom at the beginning of 6th period while he was packing up. He was incredibly social and always asked how my first year was going and if he could help with anything. In addition to this, he began to have small relationships with some of my students that would walk in. sometimes he would joke around with them or just see how they were doing.  During Holidays, he would bring in candy for his class and would leave the extra for my class. These are small memories but I believe help to show the bigger picture of what an amazing guy he was. He will truly be missed.

 My thoughts and prayers go out to the family,friends,students, and coworkers of Anthony.  Rest easy Anthony , please know you have left footprints within the school community that will never be forgotten by your students and the staff .Your life may have ended too soon but you have touched numerous lives while you were here , may you rest in peace knowing you have made a difference for so many❤️🙏❤️

Mr. Mariano was my law (&) political teacher . He was such a great person with a beautiful heart. He cared about his student. He loved respect. He was kind to everyone. He wouldn’t miss school for anything unless it was really important. He loved his career. Now that he’s gone I’m hurt. I’m grateful for being such a kind person towards him while he was alive. Mr. Mariano was my political law and theory teacher. He was by far one of the best and still is in my heart one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. I did give him a hard time freshman year but he always knew it was all jokes and that I’m a great student. He showed our class love and personally touched hearts. He was a good spirit and was an amazing guy. It breaks my heart to see he left this world too soon. I don’t have the words to describe how much of an impact he’s made on me without even knowing it. I will always keep him in my heart and thoughts. You were amazing and I’m so so sorry this had to happen.

Mr.Mariano was honestly just such a genuine, kind-hearted soul and a great teacher who always filled the room with laughter, and even if I hadn't known him long, he always had a smile on his face and would understand what the students were going through, and I just want to thank him for these past few months of helping me with my journey in school. I am beyond thankful for having him as my teacher, and I hope he's resting peacefully now.

Mr Mariano was my political theory teacher & honestly he was a such a good one. Every class he was always smiling & seemed so interested in his job, I was always looking forward to class at 2:02. He was so understanding with his students & sometimes even showed us his dog. RIP Mr Mariano, you will forever be missed💔.

Mr. Mariano was my history teacher throughout high school. I graduated in 2008. He was by far my favorite teacher, I had requested a few classes with him. 
I often thought about him throughout the years. I really wish I could’ve seen him again to thank him for being such an amazing inspiration to me throughout my high school years. My thoughts go out to his entire family, his fiancé and his fur babies. 

A big heart,  a true friend, and gone too soon.  I will always cherish our friendship and the memories I have of our times together. To the Mariano family and Christie- my deepest condolences. I have many excellent memories of Anthony at Cardozo. Most are making me smile and laugh right now as I write this.....which is a genuine comfort to me because I know the hole that must exist in the hearts of all who knew and loved Anthony is cavernous. I recall running into him at a concession stand at Yankee stadium and we both started cracking up at the coincidence of being somewhere at the identical place and time despite being among thousands of people. 
My deepest sympathies to Anthony’s family and fiancé. There are no words.....but may the abundance of expressions of love for Anthony you receive bring you some comfort as well.

 17 years ago beloved Anthony came to Cardozo with a smile and energy that could not be contained . He loved teaching especially those students who struggled . He championed those including myself, throughout the most difficult times,  and computer glitches.!   Without him , my family would not have had technology in our house. As the college advisor, I can say that Anthony wrote the most heartfelt letters of recommendation because he was passionate about helping his students . He was a consummate teacher, friend,  Eddie Vedder fan and Baseball player. He will be  greatly missed but he will never be forgotten .I know he will continue to watch over all of us   Especially his family and his most cherished Christie. Anthony was one of the best people I ever met in my life.  It was an honor to be his friend and colleague.  

I first met Anthony while student teaching at Cardozo in 2005.  He was so generous with his time, materials and words of encouragement.  Anthony was a dedicated teacher who was always looking for new ways to inspire and engage his students.  He was the kind of teacher I wanted to be.  

Anthony was a jack of all trades in the Social Studies Department.  But it was media studies, whose curriculum he single handedly developed, that was his baby.  Kids who took his media courses earnestly sang his praises and commented on how much they actually learned in his classes.  For example, they began to view advertisements through more informed lenses as well as question the authenticity of the plethora of videos they encountered on the internet.

I had the pleasure of sharing a room with Anthony during quite a few Parent Teacher Conferences and many parents shared with him that they were learning quite a bit about the media vis a vis their children.  One of the best complements a high school teacher can receive is to have a student's parent tell you that their child enjoys your class so much, that they go home and talk about what they learned.  I cannot count how many parents who visited Anthony over the years revealed how their kids would come home, recap his lessons and then engage in further discussions as a family.  Anthony would always smile and laugh, humbly absorbing the complement.

Anthony had a heart of gold, a laugh that was infectious and an unparalleled gift to impart knowledge to not only his students but anyone he encountered.  Everyone is better off for having known him.  

My deepest and most heart felt condolences to Christie and the entire Mariano family.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.
